Two and a half miles inland from Perranporth, which is located in the heart of Poldark country and the location for Winston Graham's novels set there in the 1930s, is the small Cornish settlement of Goonhavern. Goonhavern is a bustling neighbourhood with a classic inn, village store, garden centre, and playground for kids. The beach has lifeguards during the summer and is a well-liked family destination. In 2016, the British National Surfing Championships were held there. The Watering Hole is a distinctive pub located on the sand in the heart of the beach that offers live entertainment, a fantastic ambiance, good food, and an incredible view of the sunset, among a small range of other stores, restaurants, and pubs available in Perranporth. Both the Perranzabuloe Folk Museum and the nearby Blue Hills Museum are highly recommended if you want to learn more about the rich history of this coastal region. Much of the spectacular coastal walks around St Agnes, which is maintained by the National Trust, and the miles of sandy beaches at Crantock and Holywell Bay are farther away.
