Chywolow Lodge in Cornwall is highly praised for its peaceful setting, cleanliness, and thoughtful touches like welcome hampers. Guests appreciate the spaciousness, modern amenities, and the presence of animals, which add to the charm. The lodge's remote location offers tranquility and beautiful scenery, though the narrow access roads are noted. It's an ideal retreat for families and those seeking a quiet getaway.
Most guests found the lodge to be clean and well-maintained, with only a few isolated comments about dust and hair, suggesting these were exceptions rather than the norm.
The lodge's location is generally appreciated for its tranquility and scenic views. However, some guests found the narrow access roads challenging, which slightly impacts the score.
Guests consistently report that the lodge is comfortable, with special mentions of the cosy beds and spacious living areas. The presence of animals and open spaces adds to the comfort level for many.
The lodge is well-equipped with modern appliances and facilities. A few minor issues were reported, but these seem to be promptly addressed, indicating good maintenance overall.
The welcome packs, including hampers and cakes, are frequently mentioned and appreciated by guests. While these gestures are highly valued, it's important to note that such personal touches, though likely, are not guaranteed for every stay.
With a Scandinavian style interior, Chywolow Lodge sits in the tiny hamlet of Great Bosullow within 3 miles of Penzance, is perfect for respite and for those with limited mobility. Wheelchair friendly. Far reaching countryside views and an incredible sense of space make this a fabulous rural retreat surrounded by beautiful moorland, Iron Age settlements and mysterious standing stones. The property is set on a seventy acre farm and there is a field with ponies and Alpacas. All on the ground floor, this holiday bolthole makes a great base for family and friends. The open plan living area with kitchen, dining and sitting area is good for gatherings, relaxation and feasts. There are four comfortable bedrooms all with TV's and one with en-suite shower room, plus a family bathroom and garden room. The terrace is perfect for sunny breakfasts and the expanse of grass around the property is perfect for a game. This is a walker's paradise so bring your boots and head out across the moors to the North Coast. Nearby Pendeen has local facilities plus a pub but we recommend heading North to Gurnards Head where there is a food lover's delight; The Gurnards Head. The nearest white sandy beach is the hidden Portheras Cove between Pendeen and Morvah but better known Sennen Cove is only a short drive west. Penzance is 15 minutes and St Ives can be reached within 25 minutes drive, both towns are worthy of a visit with some great cafes, restaurants and galleries to peruse.
The most westerly major town in Cornwall, Penzance faces the shores of Mounts Bay, the famous St Michael's Mount rising from the sea in its centre. A bustling harbour town with quaint streets lined with shops and cafes and a promenade stretching towards the fishing port of Newlyn. Known for its mild year-round climate, palm trees and tropical plants thrive here and are best viewed at the beautiful sub tropical Morrab Gardens, close to the town centre. Popular with photographers, the art deco Jubilee seawater pool should not be missed for a dip in summer months. Home to the Georgian Theatre built around 1786, the theatre is thought to be one of the oldest Georgian theatres in the country. Golowan Festival is held in Penzance each June a ten day festival with carnivals, music and dance. Penzance is an ideal base for exploring the far south west of Cornwall, with St Ives and Carbis bay a short drive.
