Guests appreciate the proximity to beaches and local attractions, as well as the welcoming and helpful nature of the host. The cottage's conservatory is a highlight, offering beautiful views and a relaxing space. The property is well-equipped and dog-friendly, making it an ideal retreat for both families and their pets.

The cottage's location is highly praised for its tranquillity and proximity to beaches, coastal walks, and local towns like Padstow. Its setting in a quiet hamlet is appreciated for relaxation and as a base for exploring North Cornwall.
Reviewers find the cottage to be very comfortable, with a homely feel, comfortable beds, and a cosy fireplace. The conservatory adds to the comfort, providing a pleasant space to unwind.
The property is well-equipped with amenities such as Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, and cooking utensils. However, the lack of a dishwasher is noted, and one guest mentioned a smelly hoover, slightly affecting the score.
Many guests mention thoughtful touches like a welcome bottle of wine and homegrown tomatoes, suggesting the host's attentiveness. While these gestures are appreciated, it is politely noted that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.
This traditional, south-facing end-of-terrace cottage sits in a peaceful location a mile from the coast in the Cornish hamlet of Penrose which is made up of 14 cottages, making it almost vehicle free. A pretty and very traditional Cornish cottage, it provides all-year-round accommodation for families in this lovely part of north Cornwall. On the ground floor a smart conservatory with lovely cane furniture for admiring the pretty rural view, leads into a homely length-of-cottage sitting room with ancient beams and large fireplace with a wood burning stove. Enjoy family meals round the chunky table in the dining room with traditional slate floors, all freshly prepared in the well-appointed kitchen with practical utility room and pantry. Relax and enjoy alfresco meals in the sunny, south-facing garden bordered by a rose-topped slate/granite wall. Its a pleasant walk to the sandy beach at Porthcothan or the spectacular beach at Bedruthan Steps, where a row of colossal, pointed stacks march out into the Atlantic waves. Padstows fine harbour, restaurants and bars are just a short drive away. A quiet, peaceful cottage, Uphill Cottage is a lovely base for exploring the seven fine beaches all within three miles of Penrose.
St Merryn is a typical Cornish village, located within two miles of the coast and close to the picturesque harbour and fishing port of Padstow. Surrounded by some of Cornwall's best surfing beaches and golf courses, St Merryn is a holidaymakers dream, offering two pubs, three restaurants, a chinese takeaway, a chip shop, mini markets and a Post Office, yet St Merryn remains within easy reach of the area's visitor attractions. The vibrant town of Newquay is eleven miles down the road, boasting three major beaches, the National Surf Centre and an endless supply of rolling surf, making it a paradise for water sports enthusiasts. Newquay also offers good shopping, a zoo, a Sea Life centre and a variety of nightspots, clubs, pubs and restaurants. Set back from the main holiday crowds, St Merryn is an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding area at your leisure.
