A short walk will bring you to the South West Coastal Path, leading to St Ives in one direction and Carbis Bay in the other onward to Porthkidney. Further along the coast, you’ll reach the stunning traditional fishing town of St Ives, known for the Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden, with many artists from around the world have been inspired by this magical place, whilst there are also many well-established restaurants serving locally caught seafood and fabulous beaches with sea views. When you wish to return to Carbis Bay, hop on the scenic railway, covering the surrounding area and offering access to many delights further afield, such as the famous Eden Project, Pendennis Castle and St Michael’s Mount. Not to be missed is the spectacular Minack Theatre, an open-air theatre perched on the Cornish Cliffs in Porthcurno! Just a short drive from iconic St Ives, the seaside village of Carbis Bay is best-known for its beautiful stretch of pure white sand. With turquoise waters and sheltered conditions, the beach feels almost subtropical and is the perfect spot for a good old-fashioned day by the sea. The beach is also home to the Ocean Sports Centre, so if sunbathing is not really your thing, why not hire a kayak or SUP and get out on the water instead.
