It is a stone's throw from the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and within easy reach of Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor National Park. The location is perfect for anyone who enjoys being outdoors in any season and all weathers without sacrificing the creature comforts of a comfortable home.

Stoke Climsland is a charming village close to the border of Cornwall and Devon. The well-stocked village shop is more than just a place to buy a pint of milk and fresh bread - it's a hub of this friendly rural community. There are more shops in Callington while supermarkets and amenities are in nearby Launceston, about a 15-minute drive from the cottage. Other places to shop include Tavistock and Liskeard, while the historic city of Plymouth is less than 20 miles away and full of shops, museums, restaurants and other cosmopolitan delights.

The Tamar Valley is renowned for its natural beauty. Start your exploration with a walk to the top of Kit Hill for panoramic views, passing the ruins of a folly and Bronze Age barrows along the way. Mountain bikers can test their skills on the Tamar Trails Centre near Tavistock, where there are routes for all abilities as well as tree surfing, archery, canoe and bike hire. There is also the Tamar Discovery Trail footpath which stretches for 35 miles from Plymouth to Launceston, passing alongside the Tamar River and through picturesque villages, woodland and fields.

Manor Cottage Barn is convenient for the coast. Southern beaches like Looe and Polperro are about a 30-minute drive from the cottage, while Bude, Padstow and the northern coast are about 45 minutes away. Days out can include trips to the Eden Project or the Lost Gardens of Heligan, admiring country houses and National Trust properties like Lanhydrock, Cotehele and Buckland Abbey, browsing galleries and museums, playing golf and fishing. There are incredible views in every direction and every season, making this a fantastic year-round choice for a self-catering holiday in Cornwall.
