Book the hot tub for 2 hours and bubble away after a long day walking or cycling along the Tarka Trail from Barnstaple (15 miles).
Whether you’re watching the kids in the play barn or walking the dog in the exercise paddock, it’s easy to get into country life here. The interiors have a wonderful cottage-style feel, while the bedrooms feature beautiful botanical touches ideal for a tranquil night’s sleep; find your favourite corner in the lounge area or in the shared summer house curled up with a good book and a coffee. Get your grill on at the charcoal BBQ on the patio and dine alfresco on balmy summer evenings. The open-plan living space is bright and airy during the day, but draw the curtains at night and it becomes a cosy haven.
When you’ve made the most of the 18-acre grounds, head over to Quince Honey Farm (5 miles) that has a play area for children as well as honey tasting tours. Sit back and enjoy the scenery on the Tarka Valley Railway (17 miles) or discover the stunning plants and flowers at RHS Garden Rosemoor (17 miles). Beaches at Instow (21.5 miles) and Westward Ho! (24.5 miles) have picturesque views and welcome dogs on parts all year if you’ve got your four-legged friend with you.
