Dartwood House in Kingswear, Devon, is highly praised for its spectacular views and tranquil setting. Guests have enjoyed the property's spaciousness, well-equipped amenities, and the added charm of a log burner. The balcony is a standout feature, offering a peaceful retreat to appreciate the scenic Dart Estuary. While some guests noted areas for improvement, the overall sentiment is one of satisfaction and a desire to return.
The majority of guests found Dartwood House to be very clean, contributing to a pleasant stay. However, a few remarks about specific cleanliness issues slightly affect the overall high standard noted by most.
The location is consistently lauded for its outstanding views and proximity to local attractions. The peaceful setting and accessibility to walks and the river make it a prime spot, although parking can be challenging for larger vehicles.
Guests find the property comfortable, with special mention of the beds and living spaces. Some concerns were raised about heating and a musty smell in one room, which suggests room for improvement in overall comfort.
Facilities are generally well-received, with the property being well-equipped. However, several reviews point out maintenance issues such as problematic appliances and the need for updates, indicating that attention to these details could enhance the experience.

Proudly situated in an elevated position, this property (sleeping 9) boasts spectacular views over the River Dart
This well-presented, spacious detached four-bedroom holiday home sleeps nine and is perfect for a get-together with family or friends. Sitting in an enviable elevated position overlooking historical Dartmouth with fabulous views over the River Dart and to the Britannia Royal Naval College, this waterside retreat will give you and your whole pack the chance to explore beautiful South Devon in style.
This house has undergone extensive refurbishment and offers very comfortable accommodation, a great base for getting out and about and exploring Dartmouth and surrounding towns and beaches. With spectacular views from nearly every room, you’ll know doubt want to explore every nook and cranny of this wonderful property. On the ground floor, you'll find the well-equipped kitchen where you’ll spend time getting to know the double oven very well as you create masterful celebratory meals. There’s even an island with a couple of stools so someone can keep the chef company. The living room/diner is a wonderful spot to relax by the wood burner on either the sofas or the bean bag, and when you’re ready to eat together, gather around the table and gaze out of the dual-aspect windows at the amazing panoramic views of Dartmouth. There is a bedroom on this floor and is a great family option as it’s a bunkbed with double bed below with a single bunk above. The family shower room can be found on this floor also. The first floor houses three bedrooms- two en-suite king-size rooms and a twin. All the rooms are spacious and offer storage for your belongings. The outside area is where you spend a lot of time in balmy weather. The terrace offers incredible vistas of the harbour and there’s a table to enjoy drinks at, an awning as well as a small tripod BBQ to rustle up some supper on.
Dartmouth has something for everyone. The quay is popular for crabbing and passenger and car ferries crisscross the river to Kingswear for easy access to Torbay (11 miles) and Paignton Zoological Conservation Park (8 miles). Visit Greenway (6 miles), the former holiday home of the crime writer, Agatha Christie, now owned by the National Trust. Stroll out to Dartmouth Castle (3.5 miles), at the mouth of the River Dart or explore the narrow streets lined with stylish shops, cafes and restaurants.
A fully refundable security deposit may apply to this property to cover potential damages.
