About this property

Resting in Horrabridge, a riverside village in Devon is Leat House at Sortridge Manor, a characterful wing of the Elizabethan Manor House. Showcasing original beamed ceilings and stonework, whilst nestled within 7.5 acres of private gardens dotted with ponds, luscious lawns, and an enclosed pet-friendly field, this Grade II listed property welcomes six guests and two well-behaved dogs for a rural break within Dartmoor National Park. Make use of the off-road parking on offer before entering this stone-fronted dwelling, firstly reaching the sleek kitchen; here you can rustle up delicious meals before gathering in the formal dining room, complete with an ornamental fireplace, an original pew, and stunning views out to the garden. Venture into the homely sitting room to light the woodburning stove and cosy up in front of the Smart TV, or for the perfect film night, locate the first-floor snug, boasting a projector and plush seating; end the night with a stroll across the gardens as the sun sets. When sleep calls, select between a king-size with Smart TV and Jack-and-Jill access into the bathroom, which houses an indulgent free-standing bath and a walk-in shower, a double, and a twin (zip/link), offering enough space for your entire party to reset ahead of a nature-filled itinerary. Awaken to brunch at Drake's Café before taking a stroll towards Gem Bridge or hiking across the breath-taking landscape of Burrator Reservoir Waterfall and walking trail; if you'd prefer to explore by bike, follow Drake's Trail Cycle Path, carrying through the national park. For further attractions head to Yelverton, where you can enjoy a competitive afternoon at Yelverton Golf Club, explore the surroundings of Yelverton Rock, or visit the National Trust - Buckland Abbey, a Grade I listed home, surrounded by dog-friendly walking routes. Travelling towards the coast, stop off at Dartmoor Zoo, before arriving at Plymouth and its Elizabethan Gardens, National Marine Aquarium, and the Theatre Royal Plymouth, offering something for everyone. Book Leat House at Sortridge Manor for a charming getaway to Devon.

A quaint riverbank community called Horrabridge can be found in Devon's stunning Dartmoor National Park. The River Walkham, renowned for its salmon fishing, roars beneath the village bridge, which is thought to be the oldest in West Devon. Horrabridge is a great starting point for a vacation in Devon since it combines old-world charm with contemporary amenities, such as a decent bar by the river and a variety of local businesses. There are several wonderful hikes that leave from the village that ascend to Dartmoor and offer breath-taking views of the hills and fields where sheep and Dartmoor pony’s leisurely graze. Due in large part to its beautiful Victorian architecture and gorgeous setting on the banks of the River Tavy, the market town of Tavistock, the largest settlement in Dartmoor's western moor, is an incredibly lovely place. Tavistock has no shortage of boutiques and eateries, and the town is also home to the specially constructed Pannier Market, which is a must-see for all tourists.

The grounds are fantastic and well worth exploring, though I don’t think we got round them all. The owner could not be more helpful and friendly, if you needed anything you only had to ask and we thank them for making our stay so enjoyable. This property is ideal for exploring Dartmoor and South Devon. We would definitely consider hiring this property again in the future.
