This detached Devon cottage is situated on the edge of the handsome old village of South Zeal with its two pubs, on the edge of Dartmoor. This ‘upside down’ cottage is an excellent retreat and is much appreciated by people who love plants and gardens. On the upper floor, you can spread out and relax in the big sitting room with lofty roof, wood burner and relaxing views over the fabulous garden. From this room, steps take you down to the enclosed garden, a plantsman’s paradise with flowers and patio furniture. For the children, the garden is also a delight since they are welcome to enjoy the big trampoline and tree house in the horticulturalist owners’ neighbouring garden. The table and chairs in the centre of the kitchen make an excellent family dining space, and then down the stairs you will find the two comfy bedrooms and a shower room. For supper at the friendly village inn, just take the footpath which gets you there in 200 yards. Don your walking boots to explore Dartmoor’s highest peaks within a mile or so, or head to the lively town of Okehampton five miles away, with its leisure centre, cinema, heritage railway and cycle track. With the city of Exeter just 20 miles and beaches at Exmouth and Bude about 30 miles, Gardeners Cottage is a wonderful place for exploring Devon or relaxing in the lovely garden.

Situated on the very Northern edge of Dartmoor, the small moorland village of Belstone lies on the Northern edge of Dartmoor national Park and is a wonderful location for keen walkers with some of the wildest parts of the moor within easy walking distance. With an excellent pub and tea rooms to relax in at the end of a hard days exploring, Belstone is a great base.
