Mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, the village is seeped in history, with little lanes and quaint cottages and a church dating back 13th Century. Exploring the village of Shipton Gorge, The New Inn is managed and run by the local community and provides home cooked pub favourites and local bitters. Just a few miles away is the nearest coast and beach at Burton Bradstock, which is a world heritage site and part of the Jurassic Coast. A few miles further on is West Bay, which has a pretty harbour with kiosks and restaurants, two beaches and walks taking in the view of the iconic cliffs featured in the TV show Broadchurch. Around two miles away, the market town of Bridport is worth a trip as it has a good variety of shopping and the twice weekly market features antiques and collectables.
