Guests say

Chesil Views is a beautifully furnished cottage in Portland, Dorset, appreciated for its decor and space. Guests enjoyed the local walks, coves, and the view, though some found the steep inclines challenging. The property is suitable for family gatherings and offers a cosy yet modern atmosphere.

The property was found to be relatively clean by some guests, but others noted missed spots, musty towels, and evidence of pests, indicating inconsistency in cleanliness standards.

The location offers lovely walks and is near the mariner and beach, though the steep inclines and parking difficulties were noted. The actual distance to the beach was also mentioned as being further than advertised.

The property is praised for its beautiful furnishings and space for large groups. However, some guests found the sofas uncomfortable and the steep inclines in the area challenging for those with mobility issues.

Facilities were generally good, but there were issues with hot water availability and shower functionality, suggesting the need for maintenance and updates.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

Sadly we arrived to a dishwasher full of dirty dishes, glasses and crockery that were unclean, cupboards that were unclean and a washing machine that not only looked like it was dirty but had towels left in it. Under the sofa had dirt and bits other guests had lost under it. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. We also found the hot water to be luke warm even after turning the heater back on. It was a warm weekend so it didn’t make too much of a difference to our stay. Overall it was a lovely house and good location it could just do with some refinement considering the price.

Portland is a hidden treasure with lots of activities , walks and coves to explore.

Towels smelt musty too. The top floor shower is not man enough for the house and needs a power shower, the shower arm keeps coming out of the support hole. Unfortunately there was little hot water, it only got warm and we had to boil the kettle for hot water in the sink. Overall we felt the property could do with updating, redecorating and a good clean throughout. The best part was the view.
