Langport 1.1 miles. Tucked away in the beautiful Somerset countryside in Wearne near Langport, is this beautifully presented holiday home and annexe, The Quackery. Boasting a secluded and tranquil setting within attractive grounds, with easy access to a range of interesting places to visit nearby, and an interior with timeless charm, perfectly blended with all the contemporary additions a family of 11 could need during their getaway. Pets can also join in on the adventure by prior arrangement. Be welcomed into the fully-equipped kitchen, featuring fabulous wooden flooring and granite worktops, here you can whip up delicious meals for your loved ones with the help of the Aga and electric oven. Tuck into a flavourful meal at the dining table for six and breakfast bar, as you pop open a bottle of fizz and recount the day's adventures. If the weather is nice, why not fire up the barbecue or pizza oven and soak up the rays as you dine alfresco out on the veranda? There are plenty of activities to keep the guests and little ones amused as you cook up a storm, including toys, games, a trampoline, hammock, croquet, badminton net, boules and a giant Jenga set․ Local bicycle hire and hire of paddleboards and kayaks can also be arranged very nearby. After dinner, indulge in a well-deserved dip in the hot tub or book in for a holistic massage or beauty treatment which can be arranged with the owners. As the evening cools, retreat to the plush seating in the sitting room, an inviting and bright room with delightful garden views, and while away the evening with a film on the large, widescreen TV, as your canine companion curls up in front of the cracking woodburning stove set in a magnificent hamstone fireplace. Wash away the day with a soak in the bath or freshen up with a shower, before retiring to one of four well-presented bedrooms, a super-king-size with en-suite shower room, one king-size, one family room and a double. Those who prefer a little more privacy will enjoy a stay in the annexe, with its own fully-equipped kitchen and inviting sitting room with alluring woodburning stove and full-size snooker table, perfect for snuggling up in front of after a day of exploring. The annexe also enjoys a well-appointed king-size bedroom with Juliette balcony, ensuring views of the glorious countryside are always on offer, which is served by a sleek en-suite shower room where you can prepare for the day in style before heading over to enjoy the delights of the main house. The owners of The Quackery aim to make your stay unforgettable and offer help to arrange the following, delivery and unpacking of shopping, photographers to capture unique moments, archery, and clay pigeon shooting, pampering and horse-riding lessons, there is also an on-site lake where keen anglers can hook their catch of the day and a nearby watersports centre! The bustling town of Langport is just a short drive away and is home to a variety of lovely architecture and many wonderful eateries, including the welcoming Black Swan and The Rose & Crown Inn, cafes, restaurants, and takeaways, as well as well-stocked shops where you can pick up fresh produce and antiquities. Walkers and cyclists will have found their haven with a plethora of scenic country trails just moments away; keen twitchers can also visit the wildlife-rich RSPB Ham Wall to catch a glimpse of the resident starlings. Be sure to check out the Bere Cider Company, where you can enjoy a tour and make your own cider, followed by a drive up to the village of High Ham where you can soak up panoramic views over the Mendip Hills AONB and Glastonbury Tor. Next stop is Yeovilton, where you will find the fascinating Fleet Air Arm Museum and just a little further the Haynes Motor Museum which dates back to the 1900’s. A visit to Somerset would not be complete without Glastonbury, renowned for its famous music festival and remarkable abbey remains; here you will also find the Somerset Rural Life Museum, a plethora of shops and the imposing Glastonbury Tor with its landmark 15th-century tower and breath-taking views over three counties. Other surrounding attractions which are well worth a visit include the esteemed Hestercombe House & Gardens in Taunton, the superb 17th-century Montacute House in Montacute, and The Newt Estate and Gardens in Hadspen.
