Historically referred to as a market town in Somerset, Martock is today a sizable community on the edge of the Somerset Levels. In addition to a leisure area and the National Trust property Treasurer's House, a 12th century mediaeval house, the community features a post office, a fire station, a petrol station, a variety of pubs, shops, and cafes. Other National Trust sites in the area include the Tudor palace Barrington Court with its walled orchards, the 17th-century Tintinhull Garden, and the 16th-century country house Montacute House with formal gardens. Visit Yeovil, which is only a short drive away and offers something for everyone, including a vibrant downtown, a golf course, lovely gardens and parks, and the well-known Yeovil Railway Centre, which features full-scale locomotive cars, a miniature train ride, an art gallery, and a gift store.
