Gardener's Cottage is a charming Grade II listed 17th century thatched timber framed cottage, lovingly restored and updated while retaining many of its original features including an Inglenook fireplace and exposed beams. It has an enchanting garden at the rear of the cottage with a large terrace, fruit trees and stunning wild flower orchard. The property sleeps four in a double room with en-suite bathroom and a twin room with en-suite wc and basin – each with an individual staircase.
Located in the peaceful village of Thornham Magna, the cottage sits on the edge of the Thornham Estate which offers 12 miles of fabulous walks within the estate grounds through beautiful parkland and ancient woodland. The village also has a cafe, restaurant and photographers gallery as well as The Four Horse Shoes, a well-known, popular pub within easy walking distance of the property.

Please also note that the property does feature extensive, exposed beams throughout, some of which are low.
Both bedrooms are accessed by their own staircases which are both steep and one narrow and may not be suitable for children under the age of five years or guests with mobility difficulties.
Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome (small additional charge).
Travel cot and highchair available on request (please bring your own cot linen).
Sorry, no barbecues or fireworks due to thatched roof.

A lovely quirky cottage. Comfortable beds, great shower, sunny garden to relax in, good wifi and very quiet.

Good location for walking and lovely cottage, but much more overlooked than the photos suggested. The garden needs thought and attention if it is to match its description. Gardener's Cottage is comfortable and generally well-equiped (but only one egg cup for a 4-person house is ridiculous!) but It is quite expensive to rent. It was let down by lack of cleaning materials (and old dishwasher tablets stuck to the drawer), kindling & logs - all of which were supposed to be supplied for the duration. The Freezer had not been defrosted for a long time, and contained old items. The initial response of the Housekeeper was defensive although she did bring round some kindling and one J-cloth. The "complimentary service clean after 8 nights" was never mentioned by the Housekeeper. There was confusing and contradictory information in the folders supplied by Rural Retreats and another company (e.g. about rubbish collection). Despite the above, we enjoyed our stay, and apprecited that th eowners are supporting local producers in the the selection of hamper items
