This charming little seaside town also boasts interesting shops, a cinema, art galleries, excellent restaurants and famously good fish and chips. The Suffolk Heritage Coast offers many attractions within a ½-hour drive, including Southwold, 16 miles, with its pretty beach huts and pier; the internationally renowned concert hall at Snape Maltings, 3 miles, alongside river walks, food hall and shops; Orford’s famous smokery, castle and harbour; crabbing at the pretty seaside village of Walberswick, 15 miles; and browsing the shops in historic Woodbridge, 12 miles. For nature lovers, rspb Minsmere, 8 miles, Rendlesham Forest and Dunwich Heath are easily accessible, as is Framlingham Castle, 9 miles, and Sutton Hoo, 14 miles.

On your doorstep there is a farm shop, vegetable stall and natural play park. Saxmundham, 1 mile, is a leisurely 20-minute stroll down the road and is connected to London and Ipswich by an hourly train service. This market town also has supermarkets, butchers, restaurants and pubs. Walking and cycling on quiet rural lanes are all enjoyed locally, along with fishing, riding, golf, swimming, tennis and sailing.
