This idyllic stone lodge is set back from the entrance drive of Croft Castle. Offering guests unrestricted access to the historic parkland estate, Croft Ambrey Hillfort, and the walled kitchen garden - during house opening times. A great location within the countryside of the Herefordshire, Shropshire and Welsh borders, the property is well placed for exploring many national and local walking and cycling routes that criss-cross the landscape. Just 5 miles from the lodge are Bircher Common, Berrington Hall and Mortimer Forest. The picturesque Black and White village trail is easily accessible, which visits nearby Pembridge, Eardisland, and Weobley. Within a 23-mile radius you can visit the market towns of Leominster, Ludlow, and Hay-on-Wye with their antiques, food, and literary festivals. Outdoor enthusiasts can embrace the local mountain bike trails, River Wye kayaking, and the Welsh mountains. Or just take advantage of the seasonal events for young and old at Croft Castle, on your doorstep.
The lodge still belongs to the Croft family and has been recently completely renovated to a high standard. Surrounded by private, enclosed gardens, guests are encouraged to use the rear entrance of the lodge where you will find space for muddy boots and coats. From here, you can access the well-equipped kitchen that offers everything you may need to prepare meals during your stay. A cosy sitting room overlooks the garden and Croft Castle estate, through traditional Coalbrookdale windows, with a wood-burning stove, comfortable seating, and a Smart TV with Freeview, great for a relaxing evening spent with friends. For dining, there is a dining table for four in the semi-open plan kitchen, perfect for socialising whilst preparing an evening meal. The lodge offers guests the choice of two beautifully finished bedrooms, both enjoying pleasant views. There is a double bedroom with a king-size bed and a double bedroom with a super-king-size bed that can be made up as 3’ twin beds if required. Completing the property is a bathroom with shower over bath and WC.
The lodge is surrounded by mature gardens, fenced and enclosed with mature hedgerows. A supply of logs is stored under a rustic mock porch, and a table and chairs for summer dining on the terrace. Guests are free to access the parkland estate and Fishpool Valley, just 300 yards from the garden gate. There is room to park bikes and ample private parking space with 8 steps with handrails either side, from the guests parking area to the lodge.
