Newent 3.5 miles. Pleasantly positioned on the Haywood Farm Caravan and Camping Park in Gorsley near Newent in Herefordshire is this lovely one-bedroom holiday home, Bluebell Cottage. Benefitting from an on-site football pitch, badminton court and children’s playground, as well as having easy access to the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley AONB, Bluebell Cottage is a superb dwelling for a couple looking to get away from it all. Park-up in off-road parking space, before making your way through the delightful front garden with pergola and seating towards your new home-from-home. Look forward to whipping up romantic dishes for your other half in the well-equipped kitchen, before savouring your meal at the dining table. Or alfresco out in your private garden. As the evening cools, retreat inside to warm up with a soothing soak in the bath or refreshing shower, before snuggling up in the sitting room to watch a much-loved show on the TV. When sleep calls, climb the stairs up to the double bedroom where you can drift off into a restful slumber ahead of a day of adventure. On those evening’s where you fancy a night off from the kitchen, why not take advantage of the Stone baked pizza's on site or head to the Roadmaker Inn, a wonderful Nepalese restaurant within walking distance of 0.8 miles, or The Alma Inn, a country pub offering a contemporary menu and local ciders which is only a 7 minute drive or 46 minute walk away - or try one of the other pubs near by. For a wider selection of amenities, Newent offers two well-stocked convenience stores for stocking up on essentials, as well as a fish and chip shop, the fantastic Kings Arms Town and Country Pub. For a taste of city life, head into Gloucester, where you can tour the local museum and the National Waterways Museum, there is also the fascinating Gloucester Prison where you can wander the former inmates’ cells, or if that isn’t your thing why not pay a visit to The House of the Tailor of Gloucester, where you can purchase Beatrix Potter books and gifts, and peruse the small museum upstairs. Budding historians will not want to miss out on St Oswald’s Priory and the Eastgate Viewing Chamber, whilst those seeking something more adventurous will relish at The Warehouse Climbing & Caving Centre. Continue on to Ross-on-Wye, where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the glistening River Wye, test out your game at the tennis club or dine at one of the many pubs and restaurants peppering the towns centre. It all awaits with a stay at Bluebell Cottage.
From the half-timbered Old Market Hall, which dates back to 1668, to the traditional inns, restaurants, and tearooms, Newent has a lot to offer visitors from all walks of life in the Vale of Leadon. Numerous trails can be explored on foot, bicycle, or horseback in Newent, which is located on the northern edge of the magnificent Royal Forest of Dean. In the immediate vicinity are three of England's most popular vineyard destinations: Three Choirs Vineyard and Gloucester, a charming waterfront city with Roman foundations and a stunning Norman Cathedral.
