About this property

Share special moments with those you love most at this Calder Valley cottage. Pet friendly, it''s perfect for a couple but could also accommodate a small family or set of pals. It boasts a secluded brook-side location, just 5 miles from Hebden Bridge.

Surrounded by steep wooded hills, valleys and moorland, the village of Luddenden is a gateway to some of Yorkshire''s most iconic destinations. Just half a mile to the north, this quaint cottage offers a romantic retreat: cosy, characterful and surrounded by nature. Step inside and an atmospheric wood burner sets the scene for laid-back evenings stretched out on the large corner sofa. Conveniently converting into a comfortable sofa bed, it faces the Smart TV - snuggle up for some late-night movies or use it to accommodate extra guests. A dining table by the window serves up views of the local wildlife-rich woodland, while the nearby kitchen has everything you''ll need for fuss-free home-cooking, and gives access to the garden. When it''s time to sleep, the king-size bedroom on the first floor features a Smart TV and a view of the brook''s waterfall, while a versatile space to one side of the stone staircase can serve as a dressing room or - using the small sofa bed and privacy curtain - a child''s room. A hidden office area caters for anyone who needs to work while here; with views of the garden and surrounding fields, this also makes a delightful reading room. A modern bathroom completes the layout of the upper floor. Your relaxation continues outside, where the terraced garden has been landscaped to include both a lawn and a furnished patio area. There''s an additional small stone patio to the front of the property.

Once a thriving centre for wool and cloth production, pretty Luddenden has been used as a filming location for various TV series. A vibrant arts scene and cobbled streets await in Hebden Bridge (5 miles), while Haworth - home of the Bronte sisters - is 9 miles distant. Enjoy more history, culture and concerts in Halifax (5 miles) - its Georgian Piece Hall is a must-see - or drive 21 miles to Skipton''s medieval castle and lively market. The Calderdale Way is on your doorstep - a 50-mile walk which encircles Halifax, Hebden Bridge, and Todmorden, it follows old packhorse routes and provides panoramic views over the Pennines.

We had the cottage for a week. Absolutely cottage and beautiful area. We will be coming back next year.

The owner has thought of everything, all necessary modern equipment, comfortable bed with a great bathroom and steady hot water supply. The kitchen is fully stocked with utensils, crockery and saucepans. The holiday manual provides details of the property and local amenities and interesting sites with a special doggy bag and amusing letter outlining dos and don’ts for your pet. A great stay!Despite the challenging, bumpy road access, the cottage is an absolute treasure. We enjoyed local visits to Hebden Bridge, Shibden Hall and Haworth.
