Nearby Masham, 5 miles, is the home to the Black Sheep Brewery and Swinton Park, where afternoon tea is a delight (be sure to book). Ripon, with its cathedral, is just 7¼ miles away and is home to both a golf course and a racecourse.
The historic city of York is just 31 miles away with quaint cobbled streets, shops and historic monuments and museums. The spa town of Harrogate, 18 miles, provides both high end and high street shopping, together with a wide range of restaurants, pubs and bars. Alternatively, enjoy fishing on 1½ miles of the River Ure (charged locally) or at the fishing lake nearby and there are excellent walks and cycling routes in the area. Shop 5 miles, pub and restaurant 1¼ miles.
