The Curlews is a well-received cottage in the Yorkshire Dales, praised for its cosy atmosphere, cleanliness, and prime location for walks and local exploration. Guests appreciate the warm welcome, including a fire laid ready and occasional welcome gifts, and find the cottage well-equipped for a comfortable stay. While some minor suggestions for improvements are noted, the overall sentiment is highly positive with many guests planning to return.
Guests consistently report that The Curlews is beautifully clean, contributing to a comfortable and welcoming stay. The high standard of cleanliness is frequently mentioned, indicating meticulous maintenance by the hosts.
The cottage's location is highly praised for its idyllic setting and convenience as a base for dog walking and exploring the Dales. The proximity to a friendly local pub and the availability of scenic walks right from the front door contribute to its appeal.
Comfort is a strong point for The Curlews, with guests finding the beds extremely comfortable and the cottage cosy, especially with the log burner. However, some guests mention that an additional toilet, particularly upstairs, would enhance comfort for those staying with more than two people.
The cottage is well-equipped with a modern kitchen and bathroom, and ample supplies of wood and coal for the burner. However, suggestions for improvements such as the addition of a washing machine and minor bathroom amenities indicate there is room for enhancement in facilities and maintenance.
The hosts' thoughtfulness is evident from the warm welcome and gifts such as wine and biscuits, which are mentioned by several guests. While these gestures are greatly appreciated, it is noted that such gifts are a kind bonus and not a guaranteed amenity for every stay.
