Take a walk down a quiet country toad to the picturesque village of Hovingham (1.5 miles), a great place to embark on circular walking routes throughout the AONB Howardian Hills. There’s also a bakery and a pub offering any refreshments you need. Amid the ever-changing hilly landscape, head to Terrington (4 miles) and visit Yorkshire Lavender, a fabulous farm with workshops, events and a tearoom.
