With a homely open plan living area, this delightful cottage has beamed ceilings, exposed stone walls and an inviting multi-fuel stove, perfect for cosy nights in and relaxing by, after busy days enjoying this beautiful area. Steep, winding cottage stairs lead up to the two bedrooms, a double on the first floor and another double on the second floor which is set into the eaves. This quaint and atmospheric smugglers’ village is packed with nostalgia and charm, with a couple of local inns, quaint tea rooms and a couple of shops. Wander around the cobbled narrow streets and alleyways and down to the small, sandy beach and coble landing. With its rock pools and coves, it is the ideal place for crabbing, fishing or simply building sandcastles on the beach. The Heritage Museum and art gallery in the centre, are well worth an afternoon's visit. Walkers will delight in an exhilarating clifftop walk on the Cleveland Way, with breathtaking views along the Yorkshire coastline, a superb way to explore this Dinosaur Coast. Nearby Whitby is a must, with its famous Abbey, reached by the 199 ancient weathered steps. With many attractions in the local area, including the steam railway at Grosmont, the Danby Moors Visitor Centre and pretty coastal and inland villages, this lovely cottage provides an excellent base for a varied and interesting holiday.

The charming and sleepy seaside village of Staithes, with its cobbled streets and back alleys, is something of an artist’s dream. Its pretty houses and cottages are clustered around the old harbour and surrounded by high craggy cliffs on three sides, with a sheltered sandy beach set amongst the rocky coastline. The village can claim connections with Captain Cook who was apprenticed to a draper near the harbour. Nowadays, Staithes is a must for anyone visiting the Yorkshire Coast and has a good selection of pubs, shops and tea rooms.

It was quite compact in the living/kitchen area but we got used to it . The bed was nice and comfy and the area was very quiet. We unloaded car on Main Street and it was a couple of minutes walk to cottage with our bags from there, then parked car at top of hill. We were left a lovely bottle of wine and biscuits on arrival which was appreciated. Would definitely return

Easy walking to both pubs, village shops, cafés, craft centre, beach, and Quay. Stunning walks and views around every corner. The cottage had everything we needed for our weeks stay. ( no parking permit ) we didn't see one anyway.
