From here, you can follow the Shimna River inland towards the Tollymore Forest Park to find a plethora of walking. The nearby bustling city of Newry offers a great nightlife and plenty of shops and bars. For a great day out take the ferry from Strangford to Portaferry which is around 50 minutes away but beautiful scenery and well worth a visit.
