Auchenblae is a popular village in the Howe of the Mearns, a scenic agricultural area in south Aberdeenshire, which has much to offer the visitor. The village has a quirky 9-hole golf course, a well-stocked village shop and licensed cafe. In addition, a short walk from the house is ‘The Den’, a lovely park with children’s play areas, tennis court and bowling green. Just 40 mins from Dundee and Aberdeen, the village is ideally placed for touring the region, and is within easy reach of the coastal towns of Montrose, Arbroath and Carnoustie, all with fabulous sandy beaches.

Just 2 miles from Auchenblae lies the glen of Drumtochty, an area of stunning beauty, with multiple forest trails popular for walking and mountain biking. A very scenic drive over Cairn o’ Mount, which has marvellous views over open countryside to the sea, takes you to Royal Deeside with its Victorian Heritage Trail, running from Edzell to Balmoral. En route, Fettercairn Distillery is well worth a visit for some of the amber nectar.
