About this property

A charming bungalow with fantastic views over Loch Linnhe, situated in the village of Ardgour near Fort William. A delightful property, decorated and furnished tastefully throughout, this bungalow would be ideal for either a group of friends, family or couple wanting a pleasant base from which to experience the beauty of the Scottish Highlands. Step through the front door into this lovely property, on your left you will find two pleasing bedrooms; one twin and one double, both featuring a neutral décor, accented with shades of blue. Along the hallway is the modern family bathroom, an elegant affair with simple white tiles and wooden panelling. The open-plan living area is spacious yet retains a cosy feel with two comfortable sofas arranged around a warming wood burning stove. At one side of the room is the fully appointed kitchen, the perfect blend of contemporary and classic, with modern appliances mixed with traditional features such as a Belfast sink. At the other side of the room is the dining space with the table sat under a large window offering far reaching views over the majestic Loch Linnhe and Fort William in the distance. Outside the property there are enclosed gardens to the front and back, both with lawn areas. The property is situated in the small village of Ardgour, a popular destination for walkers, climbers and general lovers of the great outdoors thanks to its location at the beginning of the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. It is possible to board a ferry across Loch Linnhe to reach the town of Fort William with its shops and eateries. This property is the perfect base for friends, families or a couple wanting to spend some time in the tranquil Scottish Highlands.

The village of Ardgour is known as the gateway of the Ardmurchan Peninsula, a popular location for walkers and climbers wishing to explore its beautiful hills. The village sits on the edge of Loch Linnhe and has a shop and a hotel serving delicious food. Fort William can be reached by crossing on the Corran ferry, which ploughs regularly across the narrows of Loch Linnhe, or by road. This is an area ideal for exploring unspoilt Scotland and seeing a variety of wildlife such as otters, seals and red deer in their natural habitat. The area has numerous villages with a good range of shops, restaurants and facilities for visitors, all set among amazing scenery.

We spotted otters and seals right from our bedroom and living room windows and enjoyed many walks both in the highland mountains as on the coast of the Ardnamurchan peninsula. Maps and walk suggestions were provided in the cottage. The evenings were spent either at the fire place in the cottage or enjoying a beer or Friday night pizza in the brewery just down the road. We highly recommend this cottage to anyone who enjoys quiet and beautiful countryside with lots of wildlife.

The location and view were exemplary. The cottage had everything you could wish for, plus lots of thoughtful extras. Only 2 minutes from the ferry, which was great, but quite expensive (£10 each trip), so we bought a book of tickets as we ventured out most days. (There is a book of tickets for seniors, but you have to apply for them over a week in advance, so we missed out on that.). The alternative route by road was very pretty, but also rather a long diversion. We were blessed with fine weather for the duration of our stay and managed to cover a wide range of visits. Would recommend Mary’s Cottage to everyone - an idyllic holiday, thank you so much.

The location is amazing with such a wonderful view from the front of the house and very convenient for Glen Coe and Glen Nevis. It was cosy and welcoming on arrival and the host was very keen to ensure we had the best experience. Highly recommended.
