Honeysuckle Cottage is a perfect holiday home set in an elevated position in the crofting community of Ferrindonald on the Sleat Peninsula of Skye. It has awe-inspiring views across the rolling rural landscape of the community, over the sea to the mainland, and of the peaks of wild Knoydart just north of Mallaig. It is situated in a quiet corner of Skye within the crofting communities with the locals going about their business, as well as those lucky holiday makers enjoying the setting. There’s a choice of cafés, restaurants and pubs all within 5 miles of Ferrindonald, but also the other way to Isleornsay, which has a couple of local favourite food and drink spots.
Explore Armadale Castle and the ruins of windswept Dunscaith Castle on the north west side of the peninsula. The Isle of Skye is perfect for walkers and climbers. The Cuillin Range comprises 12 munros where you will find challenging climbs. A local favourite is the ramble to the Point of Sleat where there is a lighthouse and most importantly a cut-off beautiful sandy beach at Camas Daraich. Broadford is your local hub for more food and drink and has a large Co-op.
Portree is just to the north of the Cuillin and serves as the gateway to the famous Trotternish Peninsula, host to the Old Man of Storr and the Quiraing. Waternish and Duirnish peninsulas are well worth exploring for Michelin-starred restaurants as well as sites such as a Dunvegan Castle and Point Neist Lighthouse. The Talisker Distillery is well worth a visit and just one mile from Honeysuckle Cottage there is the Torabhaig Distillery, where you can sample a wee dram before walking home.ly walking home.
The cottage itself is an old croft house that has been renovated cleverly and finished beautifully. Upon entering through the front door you arrive into a lovely little porch room that serves as a sun room with two armchairs. It’s a perfect spot to sit with a book and get distracted by the Knoydart mountains or the boats sailing past. To the left is the lovely living room with a cosy wood burner and up the stairs the cottage shows its age as a 1.5 storey croft house. Beach 8½ miles. Shop 13 miles, pub and restaurant 4½ miles.
Free WiFi
Please note - There is a steep driveway to the property. Turn off the road and drive up the gravel track. This is a steep track and it is best to drive up in first gear maintaining a steady speed, also keeping hard left seems to be best.
