Built in the 1890s, this beautiful cottage has lots of history and lies close to the River Tay, with walking from the doorstep and an abundance of attractions nearby.. Located in Perthshire, at the western tip of the Aberfeldy Conservation Area, Dunolly Cottage nestles in a beautiful setting. Enjoying magnificent views over the River Tay and across to the hills and mountains, it lies just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre. Dating back to the 1890s, this Grade C listed building was originally a workshop for the champion piper and renowned bagpipe maker, Duncan MacDougall, who also built Dunolly House. In 1929, the workshop was converted in to a cottage by the Provost of Aberfeldy, to house his chauffeur. In 1970 the cottage was extended and became an annexe to the boys’ hostel for Breadalbane Academy weekly boarders. After this, it was a bunkhouse annexe to the Dunolly Outdoor Adventure Centre. Today, the cottage has been renovated and extended to provide guests with an unforgettable holiday experience, with spacious and beautifully presented accommodation with your every need having been thought of.
You can enjoy a superbly appointed and beautifully furnished luxury cottage that offers a very high degree of comfort. Particular attention has been paid to making the facilities as accessible as possible with the inclusion of a ground floor en-suite bedroom. If you plan to practice your cooking skills, you will find all you need in the well-equipped kitchen, including a range of cookery books and a dual-fuel range cooker which has two ovens and a separate grill – all you need to prepare a super dinner for your party. From the dining area, enjoy spectacular views of the River Tay and the mountains, with Ben Lawers to the west and Schiehallion lieing to the north (though hidden by the hills between). There is even a welcome pack and a bottle of bubbly to get your holiday started with a pop!
Sitting approximately 30ft above the River Tay footpath, this is the perfect location for relaxing in the garden with a glass of wine. The outdoor space has been thoughtfully designed with a patio area between the rear of the cottage and the river, and a further patio area to the side which adjoins a lawn area. When the gates are shut, the garden is fully enclosed so that small dogs or young children can play freely whilst you relax and enjoy your surroundings. By direct prior arrangement with the proprietors, your stay can be tailored to suit your needs. Pre-ordered groceries can be delivered, or if you want to relax during your stay and leave the cooking to someone else, a selection of delicious, cooked meals can also be arranged for you, ensuring that your holiday at Dunolly Cottage is a luxury break away and exceeds expectations right from the start. There is an abundance of footpaths along the riverside from the doorstep, as well as quiet lanes for cycling. Aberfeldy golf course is only a 5-minute walk away. This is a wonderful location for enjoying a last minute getaway or gathering of friends and family, in the great outdoors at the heart of highland Perthshire. Shop, pub and restaurant 400 yards..
