The living room of Nettlebush Cottage is wonderfully light, and has a lovely wood burner to sit in front of whilst spending a cosy night in. French doors, with level access, lead to the patio and the steep natural garden, and it’s a delight to wake up in the morning to enjoy the view down to the River Tweed and the hills above the valley. The property is set on a working sheep farm with good walks from the door, and the John Buchan Way begins in Broughton, 2½ miles away. Fishing, cycling and mountain biking are all local pursuits with the facilities at Glentress, 20 minutes’ drive. Edinburgh is a scenic, hour’s drive north and is a wonderful place to experience at any time of year, but especially for the vibrant atmosphere during the Edinburgh Festival in August and spectacular celebrations at New Year. Beach 35 miles. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 8½ miles.
