About this property

Tucked away in the centre of the quaint village of Newborough, is this inviting mid-terrace property, Tegfan. Resting on the fringes of the forest and dunes of the south-west corner of Anglesey, this charming hideaway makes a superb base for a getaway with friends and family. The open-plan living area dominates the ground-floor, complete with a fabulous sitting area where you can unwind after a long day, flicking through the Smart TV in search of a good film. When your hunger picks up, dust off those cooking books and head to the kitchen, equipped with all the essentials for a short break, including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and even a washing machine and tumble dryer; a welcome addition for when adventures get muddy! Set the dining table for a home-made feast, or order in a local takeaway for a treat. The two bedrooms are positioned upstairs, comprised of a double and a twin, with lovely fixtures and fittings and a contemporary shower room to complete the setup. Make use of the rear garden, where you can sit out and enjoy the fresh Welsh air whilst your canine companion safely roams the enclosed region. Embark on a mission to the nearby shop, set just moments away, where you can source the ingredients for a hearty breakfast and grab a coffee at the Red Squirrel Café on your return. Hop in the car and head towards the village of Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, home to plenty of eateries and great shopping opportunities, including the James Pringle Weavers department store. Venture further afield to the seaside town of Beaumaris, home to a mix of medieval, Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian architecture, along with a historical pier where you can enjoy fine views of the Menai Strait. Alternatively, head to the mainland and explore the wonders of the Snowdonia National Park, including the highest mountain in Wales, Snowdon. Consider Tegfan for a memorable escape to Wales, whatever time of year.

Newborough (Welsh spelling: Niwbwrch) is a small village in Anglesey's south west corner, nestled between forests and dunes. Llanddwyn Bay, close by, is regarded as one of Britain's finest beaches, great for swimming, canoeing, beachcombing, birdwatching, or simply resting! The 1500-acre sand dune system of Newborough Warren, which is protected as a National Nature Reserve, is home to skylarks, meadow pipits, and oyster catchers, as well as toads and lizards. Anglesey Sea Zoo, Foel Farm, and the Anglesey Sea Salt are all within 3 miles of the village centre and make for a pleasant day out for the whole family. The Anglesey racing track, located near Aberffraw, will provide a thrilling day.

However, the house needs proper maintenance. When we stayed there a few nights, we were told the washing machine doesn’t work. The host kindly suggested we go to a campsite for the laundry which we appreciated and we did it once but it wasn’t a convenient option the whole time we stayed in the house. There was also no hair dryer supplied. We’d have appreciated if these were communicated before the booking so we were prepared and we could’ve booked somewhere else. There was also a strange, unpleasant smell like mildew downstairs near the sink/sofa. The mattress in the bedroom was incredibly uncomfortable and old and gave us back pain. All in all, the place needs some maintenance and renovation for guests to have a comfortable holiday!

Thank you Bethan for having a beautiful holiday home to share with whoever would like to recharge their batteries. I'm hopeful to come and stay again some day.
