Ty Gwanwyn is a secluded cottage in Mid Wales, appreciated for its tranquil setting and large garden, ideal for dogs and nature lovers. The property offers a peaceful retreat with convenient access to local beaches and amenities. While some guests found the cottage cosy and the local wildlife charming, others noted areas for improvement.
Several reviews mention cleanliness issues such as mouldy curtains, an unclean cooker, and general lack of thorough cleaning. However, not all reviews are negative, indicating inconsistency in cleaning standards.
The location is highly praised for its quietness and seclusion, with easy access to local beaches and walks. The natural setting and wildlife are considered positives by many guests.
Guests find the beds comfortable but note that the sofa and armchairs are worn out. The low doorway and night trips to the loo are mentioned as discomforts, suggesting room for improvement in overall comfort.
The property is well-equipped with essentials like a dishwasher and WiFi, but guests report issues with the DVD player and a broken dishwasher. Furniture and decor are noted as tired and in need of an update.

This simple, unfussy, 300 year old house is tucked away along a short private lane. Set in secluded grounds of about half an acre, surrounded by mature trees and meadows, it makes a perfect environment for families looking for a quiet holiday retreat. The Pembrokeshire Preseli hills provide lovely views from the upstairs bedroom windows.
The National Trust beach at Mwnt is just over a mile away, with superb coastal walks to be had and many other hidden coves and bays to be discovered. The resident Cardigan Bay dolphins and a variety of birds, butterflies and wild flowers are a delight.
In contrast, the bustling market town of Cardigan is about 3 miles away and just the other side of the Teifi estuary is the village of St Dogmaels with its medieval abbey ruins.
There are many local attractions, including the recently restored Cardigan Castle, yet this stretch of coastline remains relatively un-commercialised.
The bustling market town of Cardigan in Ceredigion is set on the River Teifi and offers an array of shops, both unique local producers and larger chain stores, as well as tea rooms, pubs, restaurants and an impressive ruined castle. Surrounding Cardigan is beautiful countryside, whilst the rugged Pembrokeshire coastline is just a few miles away. You have the opportunity to visit the Cardigan Island Farm Park, wonderful Blue Flag sandy beaches like the National Trust beach Mwnt, take a boat trip to spot dolphins and seals, or horse riding at the friendly Dyfed Riding Centre. For keen cyclists take a trip on the National Cycle Route, Number 82. The nearby Preseli Mountains offer wonderful walking and cycling, with some stunning views and an ancient stone monument. Within driving distance is the town of Carmarthen, Dylan Thomas' Boat House in Laugharne, Oakwood Theme Park, Blue Lagoon indoor waterpark, Folly Farm Zoo and the Welsh Wildlife Centre at Cilgerran, as well as an array of castles, mills and craft centres. Cardigan is an excellent base for exploring this part of Wales.
