About this property

A well-presented, Grade II listed terraced stone-built cottage in the popular village of Dinas Mawddwy, which nestles in the south of the Snowdonia National Park. Located in a quiet setting Siskin Cottage provides a perfect base for a couple, friends or a family looking to enjoy the stunning surrounding scenery and wonderful walks. Lovingly restored and maintained to a very good standard, this wonderful cottage is full of charm and rustic character with some lovely original features, such as stripped wood flooring, slate floors, ledge and brace doors, exposed stonework and decorative cast iron fireplaces, including the old cooking range in the kitchen. Siskin Cottage offers you cosy and comfortable accommodation arranged over three floors, and you’re assured the warmest of welcomes from the moment you arrive. The ground floor has a sitting room with two comfortable sofas and a warming woodburning stove, perfect on those chillier evenings and an ideal place to simply relax and unwind. The kitchen is modern and well-appointed, with cream units, slate floors and a dining area. The first floor bedroom has a comfy double bed and the spacious bathroom boasts a lovely white traditional period style suite including a double-ended bath, so you can enjoy a soak and ease those aching muscles after a day of walking in the mountains. From the landing is a wonderful spiral staircase which takes you to a charming twin bedded room with exposed stonework and sloping ceilings. Outside, with a backdrop of hillside scenery, the cottage courtyard garden enjoys the morning sun and the covered veranda and slate flagged patio with seating is the ideal place to sit and relax, ending the day off perfectly with a glass of something cold! Dinas Mawddwy is ideally placed for discovering the stunning mountains of Mid Wales; the whole area is criss-crossed with well-marked footpaths that open up the myriad of outdoor activities that the Snowdonia National Park has to offer. The village has a pub so after a day exploring you don’t even have to worry about cooking. Cader Idris, Mount Snowdon’s lesser-known counterpart, is 10 miles away, and nearby Dolgellau offers a good range of shops for a more relaxing day, plus the sandy beaches at Barmouth and Fairbourne are just short drives away. An excellent cottage perfectly situated to enjoy the stunning Snowdonia National Park. There is much to enjoy for climbers, walkers, bikers and birdwatchers alike and this cottage will have you returning time after time!

Dinas Mawddwy is an attractive, single-street village surrounded by beautiful countryside and overlooked by the wonderful Aran Mountains, in the southern part of Snowdonia National Park. There is a pub in the village and a number of others close by and the Meirion Woollen Mill stands on the banks of the River Dovey and is open to visitors.

Dinas Mawddwy is one of the most beautiful scenic places I’ve ever been to, my 15 year old daughter loves it so we already have our next booking done. Suzy is a lovey host and is very helpful with anything that you need, can’t fault her at all . Well worth the trip just for the views , you won’t find scenery anywhere like here
