About this property

A charming, traditional cottage located a short walk from the centre of Grasmere, providing guests with a comfortable and welcoming stay all-year-round. A real home away from home, this retreat is perfect for travellers or couples to spend some leisure time in an excellent part of Cumbria. The ground floor is complete with a lovely lounge, which boasts an original open fireplace for those cosy nights in, and plenty of seating for you and your loved ones to socialise and relax in comfort. The kitchen/diner has been refurbished to a lovely standard with stylish units and counter tops, as well as a pleasant dining table with seating for up to six people. Stairs lead up to a family bathroom, which houses a bath with a shower attachment, elevated by light blue décor to give the suite an almost ocean feel. There are two bedrooms to the first floor; a kingsize bedroom and a single bedroom are laced with a neutral theme, and have delightful bedside tables and wardrobes to store your belongings. To the third floor is a kingsize bedroom with ensuite, with views on each side of the room across to Grasmere, there is also a day bed on this floor with pull out trundle for added flexibility. On a sunny day, make the most of the outside patio area, or better yet, wander into the village of Grasmere with its shops, pubs, and church which dates back to the 13th century, as well as Grasmere Lake, with a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains which can be seen from the top floor of the property. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. A wonderful retreat in an excellent location for touring.

Grasmere is a village in the Lake District National Park, housing shops, pubs, a 13th century church and Grasmere Lake, plus Grasmere Sports takes place every August. 5 miles away is Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th-century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Well equipped and ideal for a party of 5. The bed setup is not ideal if you were a party of 6 as the daybed is on the top floor with a double. The parking is tight and you would struggle with a large car. Medium or small cars fit fine. The only issue we had was that when we arrived the heating was set to 15c so the whole place was freezing. It took a few hours to warm it up and we had to light the fire and sit in fleeces and blankets. All other properties we have stayed at have been warm when we arrive which makes a big difference. I would recommend that you set the heating higher to make it cosy for when guests arrive.

Next door was also undergoing renovations which meant drilling and construction work from 08:30 in the morning. Dissatisfied that this could have been done when the property was unoccupied.
