About this property

Holly Cottage is a lovely three-bedroom holiday home, spread over two floors, in the attractive small town of Ambleside which is situated in the Lake District National Park. It is just a five-minute walk to the town centre and the perfect spot for exploring the area by foot, public transport or by car. This beautifully appointed spacious property sleeps up to six people with the real advantage of having three bathrooms.

Walk to your covered porchway before stepping inside to your bright and spacious, open plan sitting room with dining area. Walk through to the kitchen area, make yourself a drink then relax on your stylish and comfortable sitting room suite to unwind from your long journey. You are sure to admire the elegant, co-ordinated furnishings.

Then go and discover your beautifully appointed and spacious bedrooms. Find your first bedroom on the ground floor, a lovely room with double bed and en-suite. Climb the stairs to find your stunning master bedroom with king-size bed and en-suite. You will adore the chaise longue placed invitingly in the gorgeous feature window. Your other beautiful bedroom is a good-sized twin. You will also find a modern family bathroom on this level.

Set out on foot from your doorstep to experience some of the most spectacular walks in the National Park but beware, you will have a tough job narrowing down the list!

Tour the area by car to discover charming villages and hamlets, sparkling lakes and dramatic valleys. Take a short bus ride to the Visitors Centre at Brockhole for and exciting tree top adventure and zip wire, enjoy a drink on the terrace then take a cruise along beautiful Lake Windermere back to Waterhead at Ambleside.

Stroll downhill to the town centre for a little retail therapy in the independent shops and have a bite to eat in one of the many superb restaurants, cafes and pubs.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

Well equipped. One or two little extras like a tooth mug in the bathrooms and a welcome pack with some tea bags etc would be nice. Also more toilet rolls. We had an issue with the heating when we first arrived it would be good if that had been checked and activated for our arrival. Apart from the above we had a lovely holiday with our family, the cottage is very convenient for the town and beautifully decorated and kitted out. We will certainly return.

Property nice size suited 5 of us .Downstairs en / suite very damp extractor fan did not work . Few cobwebs in downstairs bedroom . Would of been nice if the electic fire plug was still attached so we could just use it for the lights to give it a warmly feeling .Also would of been nice to of added a standing xmas tree and few decors to make it feel more xmassy . Did not feel very x massy. Overall we had a nice time and would return again .

The house was lovely and comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped for everything we needed. The beds were so comfortable and it was a real treat to have a smart tv and internet which pleased my daughter! We would absolutely stay here again. Thank you very much for sharing your house with us.
