Resting in the picturesque setting of the Lake District National Park, on the owners' grounds in Windermere, Cumbria is this impeccable, semi-detached house of The Hideaway. Built in 1887, The Hideaway was the former school master’s house for the college next door (now converted apartments), but is now a magnificent retreat for a large family of 22; The Hideaway's accommodation is not only stylish and packed with charm but is spread over three floors.

With a contemporary twist, while sympathetically reviving the property’s Victorian features, this abode pulls on inspiration from the owners’ travels, and they have planned, designed and project managed the renovation, choosing and co-ordinating all finishes, colours and fabrics with meticulous detail.

Completely non-smoking, this beautiful house offers exceptional self-catering accommodation & facilities; make your way inside to the entrance hall and turn right to discover a pleasant snug with drinks station and bottle cooler, that leads into the games room which hosts a pool table that is ideal for the kids to relax in. Continue to the large sitting room which offers a Smart TV and plush seating overlooking the garden; the perfect spot to enjoy quality time together and unwind.

The newly designed full refurbished open-plan kitchen and dining area is a fabulous contemporary space for the whole group to gather. The designated chef(s) will have used of a fantastic range of appliances, ensured to make your self-catered stay a success, rustling up anything from simple meals to a feats for the whole family. Leading into the dining area, overlooking the garden, sit down with up to twenty guests where meals can be savoured and you can crack open a bottle of wine and let the drinks flow, whilst you catch up with your loved ones on your outdoor adventures and excursions.

As the day comes to an end, choose between 11 beautifully decorated bedrooms to rest in, the ground-floor/quarter landing features two rooms, a super-king-size (zip/link, can be twin on request) with en-suite bathroom and the other being a fabulous, split level king-size which features a Smart TV, inviting heated tile flooring, and a spiral staircase to an en-suite bathroom with a freestanding roll-top bath, twin basins and homely heated tile flooring for a touch of luxury.

The lower ground-floor garden room which is access from within the main house features a small patio which is set down from the main garden and en-suite bathroom with a freestanding roll-top bath and heated tile flooring. Progress from the main hallway upstairs to the first floor to find five more fantastic bedrooms, all en-suite with one being a super-king-size or twin with an en-suite bathroom, another being a king-size with an en-suite bathroom that has been designed with couples in mind, with freestanding bath taking centre stage; two more king-sizes and two doubles, all with en-suite walk-in showers.

Climb the stairs to discover the second-floor bedrooms, three tastefully furnished rooms designed with their own unique colour schemes, two of which are king-sizes as well as a double, all benefitting from en-suite power showers and one with its own freestanding roll top bath; all of the eleven en-suite bathrooms also feature heated towel rails and the bedrooms host Smart TVs, so you can enjoy some late-night entertainment from the privacy of your own bed.

The garden itself hosts a spacious lawn and water feature, where ample seating can be found, so all the group can enjoy alfresco meals together in the warmer months!

With no passing traffic, this peaceful retreat is exceptionally quiet, located down a quiet lane behind the village of Windermere, yet still offering easy access and just a short walk to Windermere Village and just longer but idyllic walk to Bowness and Lake Windermere; this makes The Hideaway the perfect spot to explore this beautiful area and experience everything the Lake District has to offer.

When you finally feel like tearing yourself away from this gorgeous home-from-home, progress into Windemere, where not only an abundance of amenities can be found, but a great selection of attractions can be discovered, including walks along Queen Adelaide's Hill and Orrest Head Viewpoint, watersports at Windermere Outdoor Adventure Centre and tours of the fascinating Windermere Jetty Museum.

Continue a short distance south to Bowness-on-Windermere, a town offering access to the lakeside, green space of Cockshott Point, along with access to a marina, where you can hire wake surfing equipment or board a ferry over to Far Sawrey, where the Claife Viewing Station and Hill Top attractions await. Ambleside isn't far and is a great day out, with its access to Stock Ghyll Force Waterfall, Skelwith Force Waterfall, Rydal Cave and the Ambleside Roman Fort.

There is still so much more to see in the Lake District National Park, with Scafell Pike and Helvellyn enticing climbers, Ullswater and Derwentwater drawing in watersports enthusiasts and towns, such as Cockermouth and Kendal offering marvellous days out for all! Many enjoyable hikes, mountain biking, and the 'Go Ape' adventure park are all available in nearby Grizedale Forest Park.
