About this property

A Grade II listed, stone-built, end-terrace townhouse, conveniently situated in the centre of the historic town of Alnwick. This Alnwick cottage provides character accommodation set over four floors, perfect for families and friends wishing to get together in the heart of Northumberland. The ground floor sitting room at this lovely Alnwick cottage has a large window which lets in beams of sunlight and is a perfect place to settle after a day out and about. To the first floor of this Alnwick cottage there is a well-equipped, fitted kitchen and large dining area with sofas. The basement games room with pool table and table football is just the spot for children in your group to let off steam whilst the adults relax upstairs. If you prefer to head out into Alnwick, this Northumberland cottage is only a short stroll from an array of excellent pubs and restaurants. This Alnwick cottage is also in a perfect location for enjoying and exploring the endless delights of the Heritage Coast, Warkworth Castle, Amble Marina, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Dunstanburgh Castle, Craster (famous for its kippers), Beadnell village and Bamburgh Castle, which are all less than a thirty minute drive away. A little further are Hadrian’s Wall, Holy Island and Cragside House and Gardens at Rothbury. This Alnwick cottage is in a great position to explore this lovely county all through the year.

This part of Northumberland is famous for its unspoilt beauty, and is widely recognised as having some of the most picturesque countryside in the whole of England. The area offers a wonderful combination of coastline and countryside, having long sandy beaches and the Cheviot Hills complementing each other perfectly. There are also a great number of well-preserved and spectacular medieval castles and stately homes in the area, including the fantastic Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland and often referred to as "The Windsor of the North". Alnwick itself was once a prosperous medieval market town, being only a day's ride from Berwick-upon-Tweed in the north and Newcastle upon Tyne in the south. It is still a charming maze of cobbled streets and narrow alleys, whilst its fine stone buildings now house a range of specialist shops and family-run businesses. Visitors can still enjoy the atmosphere of Alnwick as it may have been in Medieval times in the town's recently refurbished Market Place, which is also the centre for local events, including Alnwick Fair and the International Music Festival.
