About this property

Resting in the heart of the historic village of Norham, in Northumberland, is this attractive, mid-terrace bungalow, Cygnet Cottage. Combining character and contemporary features, this welcoming adobe is perfect for two couples or a family seeking exploration of this Northumberland region. Stepping into your new home from home, you are welcomed into a delightful lounge, complimented with two sofas arranged in front of the Smart TV, ideal for movie nights after a long day. Keep the chef company whilst they prepare a hearty dish in the kitchen, utilising an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge and freezer, so you are sure to be well-equipped throughout your stay. Pop open a bottle of fizz and toast to a long-awaited getaway with your nearest and dearest. The master bedroom boasts a feature stone wall and sumptuous king-size bed, along with a contemporary en-suite shower for convenience. The second bedroom includes a double bed and is serviced by a wet room. Take advantage of the garden, offering a patio space where you can relax at the furniture whilst your canine companion stretches out on the lawn. The delights of Norham can be found in just a moments walk; treat you and the group to a delicious meal at the local pub, The Masons Arms, or stock up on fresh, locally sourced ingredients from butchers and bakery. For days out, head into Berwick-upon-Tweed and discover the winding Elizabethan walls built to keep the invading Scots at bay, or pack up your bucket and spades and head for the sands, a must during the summer times. If exploration takes you further afield, the cities of Edinburgh and Newcastle are just a 40 minute train journey from Berwick. A character cottage in the traditional village of Norham, this location offers activities for all of the family.

The beautiful Norman Castle ruins overlooking the River Tweed, painted by Turner in 1845, are the most recognised feature of the mediaeval village of Norham. The village contains a good butcher and bakery, as well as a Post Office, grocer, newsagent, and two pubs, one of which, the Wheatsheaf pub in neighbouring Swinton, has an award-winning restaurant. The Cross Inn in Paxton, as well as two fine restaurants in the town of Allanton that are great for fishing and shooting parties, are also close. Berwick-upon-Tweed, on Northumberland's picturesque Heritage Coast, is just 7 miles away, with many restaurants, cafes, bars, and a local links golf course. Berwick is only 40 minutes by train from Edinburgh, Scotland's capital, or Newcastle, its largest city. A fantastic base for seeing everything North Northumberland has to offer.

Fabulous garden and a pub serving some great traditional meals at a great price directly across the road. What wasn’t there to like

Some small problems, which were dealt with promptly & efficiently, thank you. We are going back in September and hope to book for next year as well. Thank you very much for the welcome pack, much appreciated. Lovely walks along the Tweed, food at the Masons. Plenty of local walks, idyllic village and friendly people. Butchers, General Store, Gunmakers, Bakery & Mobile Fish & Chip Van on Thursday night recommended.

Very tight. Separate bathroom very cold during evening. Heater in sitting room not working efficiently. Owner of property unfriendly and refused to take calls after I’d reported this. Plumber came to look and informed us that bedroom heater in bedroom didn’t come on as heat set on thermostat. Sitting room was warm when he arrived as we had had just used the cooker for dinner, Received a text next day to phone Sykes if I’d any further queries!! She locked the thermostat at 23 degrees. Unpleasant person.
