A statue of 'The Scutcher,' who stopped the iron ore tubs with an iron bar and his own strength, can be found in the town's centre, honouring the town's iron-mining past. Norman Nicholson's stained glass window in St. George's Church and the 'fish' stained glass window in Holy Trinity Church are both worth a look in this town, which was also home to the author. Millom Castle and Haverigg's Blue Flag beach and renovated lighthouse, as well as children's play facilities, provide for a fun day out with the whole family.
