Just a few niggles , some of the lighting was not working on the ground floor , the hob was difficult to use and the hot tub was starting to grow fungi .

Itâs a small cottage set within a beautiful place with all thatâs great about the Yorkshire Dales. If youâre looking for a solid base for exploring the area then this is a good option. However if you have £677 to spend and like me you want somewhere with a double bed, tea and coffee (or perhaps even biscuits), comfortable sofa, half decent tv and a hot tub that doesnât take 8 hours to heat up then Iâd consider another option. Perhaps the year build up to our stay and the expectation that came with it has lead to unrealistic expectations, however for the price tag I think we deserved more. Another point worth making was the administrative errors and burdens after booking our stay. I caught covid the week before we were due to stay first time around, which was no fault of Sykes. However when I tried to cancel I would only be given £100 refund, a tiny portion of the total amount paid. I therefore decided to reschedule for the following year (today). However this came with a £70 ârebooking feeâ which I was reluctant to pay. I understand covid has lead to staff shortages etc, however the âstaycationâ industry is surely one that is thriving in the current environment? Unfortunately due to the sleeping arrangements (two single beds pushed together) and the loud family staying nearby we have decided to leave without staying for the night. I hope this is constructive criticism because that is what it is intended to be. I am happy to give more information in order to support the team in delivering a better stay for future guests.

The hot tub is a lovely extra, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We had a problem with flies while here and emailed Ruth for some advice but received quite an unhelpful email; that this was down to the location and that there were no more fly rolls with no other suggestions (we understand the location but would perhaps have liked an offer to at least try and find us a solution). Photos of the fly roll from the end of our stay show the amount of flies were not 'normal'. We ended up keeping all windows and the door shut to keep the flies away which was a shame considering the lovely environment we'd have loved to embrace fully. This was even more a problem as all the plates/bowls were on open shelves which meant flies could land on them, meaning constant washing of dishes. The kitchen was under stocked with limited glasses (we'd expect more than one large glass in a holiday home for 2). More effort could have been put into the cleanliness of the property, with cobwebs in the bathroom, dirty plates in the plate stack and hairs on the wooden shower mat. Like past reviews, I'd agree the sofa is uncomfortable with the TV being small...though there was no signal for it so we didn't bother anyway. The lights weren't great; downstairs in the living room only 1 worked and upstairs in the bedroom the light was faded and hummed. Overall the location won us over but we probably wouldn't use the Brew House as a base again.
