About this property

If you're planning a hen party, family reunion, or work retreat, look no further than Shepherd's View Lodge. The owners have taken a character barn in a stunning location and transformed it into a beautiful holiday home with excellent self-catering amenities and space for 16 people to sleep in seven ensuite bedrooms. It's a wonderfully peaceful location three miles from Ashbourne and only a mile from the Red Lion pub in Kniveton, between the Peak District National Park and Carsington Water. Chatsworth House, Alton Towers, and many other Derbyshire attractions are all within easy reach.

Shepherds View Lodge is something special. Spacious and secluded, this eco-friendly holiday home sleeps 16 people in seven ensuite bedrooms for self-catering family holidays, special birthday and anniversary celebrations, team retreats, and hen and stag weekends. The setting is incredibly peaceful. Great care has been taken to echo the beauty of its natural surroundings inside the house, with the owner using natural light, muted shades and various textures to create a tranquil haven that features a fire pit and a hot tub. The lodge is a mile from the Red Lion pub in Knievton, between the Peak District National Park and Carsington Water, with beautiful walks from the door.

Kniveton is perfect for an outdoor holiday, even if your preferred "outdoor" means admiring the views from the comfort of the sofa. It's deep in the Derbyshire Dales, three miles from Ashbourne, a charming market town. Picture stone cottages, tea rooms, and excellent amenities that include a choice of supermarkets and independent shops. Browse antique shops and, on Thursday, the stalls at the weekly market on Shrovetide Walk. The traffic-free Tissington Trail starts here and can be used by mountain bikers and walkers, linking up with the Pennine Bridleway and the High Peak Trail.

Local attractions include the National Trust Museum of Childhood. Carsington Water has walking, cycling, fishing, birdwatching, paddleboarding, horseriding, and an outdoor play area. Alton Towers is 14 miles or about half an hour's drive, while Chatsworth House is 18 miles and 40 minutes away. Visit Thor's Cave, the Great Masson Cave, Poole's Cavern, or the Hidden Druid's Caves, or stay at the lodge and enjoy its hot tub and games room.

Guests who have stayed at Shepherds View Lodge rave about the high standard of accommodation, the spacious rooms, and the ability to book extras like a karaoke machine, pamper treatments, and a private chef.
