About this property

Believed to be the oldest house in Chipping Norton, built around 1650, Church Cottage is a characterful Grade II listed property with many period features including mullion windows.

This charming and ancient 16th century, Grade II listed cottage sits witin the heart of the old village, next to the beautiful St. Mary's church. The property is brimming with original features and the cosy sitting room features a wood burning stove set within a stunning Cotswold stone fireplace. Upstairs, the first floor is dedicated to the bedroom suite, with a welcoming king-size bedroom leading to its own dressing room and en-suite bathroom, making this an ideal bolthole for two.

Church Cottage, believed to be the oldest house in Chipping Norton, is situated in the old part of this popular Cotswold market town, with enviable views of St Mary’s Church providing a blissfully secluded feel. Yet Chipping Norton town centre is just a few minutes walk from the cottage's front door, with its famous theatre at the top of Church Street and the popular lido (open April - September). There are several good pubs and restaurants in the town along with a Marks and Spencer Food Hall making light work of holiday self catering.

We are HBP bond holders We are HP Bondholders but booked through Cotswold Hideaway. We are grateful for their welcome treats also for their prompt resolution to a small electrical problem, an electrician arrived the next day and also supplied two addition tea plates! Our weather was varied but we enjoyed Batsford Arboretum on a fine sunny day with good snacks in the cafe. On a more unsettled day we tool shelter in a warm at the Slaughters inn by a fire and enjoyed an excellent lunch. We also enjoyed a local walk to a very accessible theatre/cinema to see the latest Poirot film. Thank you for the logs, kindling and matches, making for a cosy stay in this well appointed cottage.

We booked the cottage last minute for a week in February. It's a beautiful old cottage in a lovely location. Countryside walks on the doorstep and the town centre of Chipping Norton a few minutes walk up the hill. The cottage was comfortable, very clean and well equipped. We especially enjoyed the log burner for cosy nights in.
