Kids will love the shared play area and play barn that’s overlooked by a summer house with coffee facilities so you can keep an eye on them. The property’s interiors are contemporary with lots of rustic features; the open-plan living area is bright and airy during the day but turns into a cosy haven with the blinds and curtains drawn in the evening. You’ll get a tranquil night’s sleep in the bedrooms with their soft, botanical touches to gently send you off.
Let the kids run wild in another play area at Quince Honey Farm (5 miles) and hold a tray of bees if you’re brave! If you’re looking for a day at the seaside, you can’t go wrong with Westward Ho! (24.5 miles) where the whole family can try their hands at surfing, paddleboarding and go karting. Keen walkers or cyclists must take advantage of the 108-mile Tarka Trail; join at Barnstaple (15 miles) where you can hire bikes and stop at the Pannier Market for souvenirs and tasty local produce.
