Welcoming 11 guests and two dogs, this stunning holiday home is nestled in the supremely photogenic village of Holbeton. This idyllic hamlet is surrounded by lush greenery, rolling hills, and astonishingly beautiful coastline, creating a postcard-perfect setting. Holbeton is a designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Heritage coast and Site of Special Scientific Interest and is alive with wonderful wild flowers, birds and animals. Holbeton's allure lies in its remoteness, it's proximity to some of the most breathtakingly beautiful stretches of coast make it one of the best kept secrets amongst families that holiday there.
Hummingbird House has five beautiful bedrooms to choose from. Each is beautifully appointed with classic and elegant furnishings. All the beds have gorgeous luxury bedding and deeply comfortable mattresses. The master bedroom has a lovely en suite with his and hers sinks and all the bathrooms have extra fluffy towels, gorgeously hot power showers, and bathtubs for those blissful soaks. Due to it's idyllic location there is zero light or noise pollution, so a sumptuous slumber is a given. Wake to the salty sea breeze and the smell of freshly brewed coffee, and wander down to make breakfast in the simply beautiful kitchen, full of natural light and of course fully equipped with absolutely everything you could need - a chef's dream!
Step into the massive sun trap garden and let children and dogs run and play till their hearts content! With masses of space and lots to explore, this is an ideal homestay for multi-generational families and a fabulous spot for celebrations. On balmy evenings light up the fire pit and pour yourself a drink. Soothe tired legs after a long day spent walking, swimming and boating with a long soak in the wood-fired hot tub. Two dogs are very welcome at Hummingbird house. Dogs will love napping by the wood burning stove in the sitting room or snoozing by the AGA in the kitchen after a long day walking the coastal path and wave jumping on the beach. There is ample private parking for 5 + cars making it hassle free and easy for everyone to come and go whenever they please.
Hummingbird House is heaven for children. A high chair and travel cot can be set up if you have little ones in tow, as well as stair gates at both the top and bottom of the stairs if you're bringing along toddling babes. After spending days crabbing, rockpooling, kayaking or bodyboarding, children will simply adore chilling out in the games room filled with goodies such a table football.
Stroll to the lovely local pub (that specialises in local devon ales and ciders) or hop to the beach and try out windsurfing, kitesurfing, bodyboarding and paddle boarding. Ideally located to explore the other gems in South Devon, whether it's pottering in the independent shops of Salcombe, discovering the vibrant town of Kingsbridge or exploring natural beauty spots such as Hope Cove, Thurlestone or South Milton. Stay at Hummingbird House and exploring this stunning area is an easy feat!

A truly special place to bring the family together. The house was beautifully furnished, with everything we needed and was so close to the beaches, yet surrounded by tranquil gardens. The kids loved the cinema room, tennis court and hot tub. Will definitely be back next year

The Finest Stays Team
Our Finest Stays team had the most wonderful retreat at Juniper House, Kingsbridge. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the beautiful setting, glorious grounds and the complete sense of space — it felt like a true retreat. We spent long, relaxed evenings sharing suppers on the terrace, surrounded by the most gorgeous gardens that were a joy to explore. The hot tub quickly became a favourite spot for winding down after the day. Highwell gave us the perfect blend of comfort, luxury, and togetherness — we left feeling recharged and already dreaming of our next stay!

Could not fault this place. Definitely one of the best properties we've stayed in over the years. The location is stunning with beautiful walks on your door step, spitting distance to the sea. A short drive gets you to some more lovely locations. There was plenty to keep 7 kids busy for the week which speaks volumes. Contact with the owners was always quick and responsive, they even gave us a tour of the dairy farm while the cows were being milked. We genuinely had the best week at Hummingbird House. Would definitely return for another trip. Thank you for making our stay easy and hassle free. I genuinely have no complaints.
