The quiet village of Bridgerule lies on the Devon and Cornwall border, conveniently located to explore this stunning area and is only 5 miles away from Bude in Cornwall, and 5 miles away from Holsworthy in Devon. This is the perfect choice for couples or small families wanting to escape and unwind and be close to some of the nicest beaches in the country, with excellent surfing, pretty coves and dramatic coastal walks.
The historic market town of Holsworthy has a good selection of local shops, supermarket, town amenities, golf club and an indoor swimming pool and leisure centre. Nearby Bude, with it’s historic castle, vibrant town centre and vast array of good restaurants and bars is perfect for a romantic evening, watching the sun set over the ocean.
Water sports and fishing are available at the nearby Tamar Lakes, coastal and country walking, golf, surfing, horse riding, cycling or simply relaxing there is something for everyone in this stunning location. Pretty fishing villages and spectacular beaches and coves are dotted all along this coastline from Padstow, Tintagel, Crackington Haven and Bude in Cornwall to Westward Ho!, Clovelly and Instow in Devon, and for a great day out, the famous Eden Project is within easy reach. Booked as a week break in early October the Bridge Inn was a fantastic surprise. The village is a lovely working village on the banks of the Tamar with easy access to Bude and other Cornish towns such as Tintagel. The Bridge in is a great example of a traditional local. I spent every night in the bar with the friendly locals and the brilliant landlady Pam. Quiz night on Sunday, skittles on Tuesday. Even the ordinary weather couldn’t spoil the week for us. Dottie the dog enjoyed her time there too. The apartment is spacious, clean and comfortable.

The Bridge Inn Apartment was an absolute gem: spacious and airy accommodation above a friendly but quiet pub. The setting was idyllic and in easy striking distance of Bude, The Eden Project, Hartland Abbey, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and dozens of other wonderful places to visit. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and we'll quite likely go back for another holiday ourselves.
