This delightful and spacious 18th century semi-detached, stone-built cottage is ideally located in the village of Gorsley, on the edge of the Royal Forest of Dean. This historic cottage has the interesting name of Blind Man’s Gate and was the first house to be built in the village, where in the past it was used as a church in the 18th century and later a public house. Offering very comfortable accommodation, this charming cottage has five lovely bedrooms, including one on the ground floor, along with a first floor shower room and a ground floor bathroom. The living space in this welcoming holiday home consists of a large, well-equipped kitchen with dining area, which is a great place to sit and linger over Sunday lunch or an early evening drink. From the kitchen are patio doors leading out to the rear garden, whilst also in this room are steps down to a games area, where you will find table football and dart board. Next to the kitchen is a sitting room with low ceiling beams, where you can enjoy playing family board games or simply put your feet up and relax. The other homely sitting room boasts an exposed stone wall, ceiling beams and a warming woodburning stove, ideal for those chilly evenings. The rear enclosed lawned garden is large enough to play ball games, and you may wish to enjoy a spot of alfresco dining on a summer's evening. The area has many walks and cycle trails with the Three Choirs Way and Herefordshire Trail passing close by, whilst numerous outdoor activities, including horseback riding, kayaking, high wire rope course and golf, to name just a few, can be found in the area. With the riverside towns of Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye close by, this is a great holiday destination to be enjoyed at any time of year.
The village of Gorsley is situated on the edge of the Royal Forest of Dean and offers a shop with Post Office, as well as a pub with restaurant. Close by is the historic market town of Ross-on-Wye, where you will find timbered Tudor houses clustered around the striking 17th Century Market Hall, and there are excellent shops, pubs and restaurants to suit every taste.
