About this property

Haworth 1.3 miles. Worth Valley Lodge is a traditional cottage, nestled in Cross Roads, Keighley. This stone-fronted abode is a snug space, ideal for couples or groups of three seeking an exciting escape to West Yorkshire. Enter into the pleasant property and feel the character of the exposed beams and stone walls. Put away your shopping and grab some ingredients from the fridge, to prepare a flavoursome dinner in the charming country kitchen. Retire into the restful sitting room where the woodburning stove flickers and warms up the room. Catch up with your favourite box set as you unwind on the sofas and reflect on your day. When ready for bed, climb the traditional cottage staircase up to the first floor and be greeted by the tranquil and light double bedroom. Sink into bed in the single bedroom and catch a full eight hours, ahead of an enthralling day exploring the surrounding areas. Take your time to prepare for the day with a refreshing morning shower, or after a day spent on your feet why not draw yourself a bath in the contemporary bathroom. Stroll down to Haworth Central Park before tucking in to a tasty breakfast at Cobbles and Clay. Hop in the car and head for Keighley for a look around Cliffe Castle Museum. Nearby, the famous Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, provides a lovely day out with a regular service to the old village of Oxenhope. If you're a fan of science and modern media, head into the city of Bradford and spend the morning at the National Science and Media Museum. Set aside some time to spend shopping in Kirkgate shopping centre, before returning to Cross Roads for a pint in the local. For a relaxing getaway to West Yorkshire, be sure to stay at Worth Valley Lodge.

Cross Roads is a small village, resting by the picturesque village of Haworth. There are a number of local pubs, eateries and stores in the area, with a convenience shop just a short walk away. Dirty fridge with residues in shelf edges and standing water. Stagnant water left in washing machine. Toothbrush holder was disgusting, cobwebs on lounge light, dust and not sawdust as owner said all over utensils. Nothing provided to protect from heat when opening wood burner ( people had previously used oven gloves that were left black). Cobwebs all inside the extractor above the hob that could drop in your food. Headboard in main bedroom was all stained. The shower was advertised as a walkin but it was about 12" off the ground, the tiles on the step were wall tiles so were slippy. I have a back problem so had to be helped in and out by my wife. The shower curtain was dirty and a linen lined bin in the bathroom is not hygienic if people have to dispose of sanitary items. The bathroom smelt of drains. Road noise was non stop and that's no lie. You have to reverse up the slope if past two parked cars and try and avoid the railing, pulling out is completely blind into a main busy road. The fire extinguisher was in a cupboard rather than being wall mounted as it should be. We had a pleasant stay but that was down to the area we visited. If you want a quiet relaxing stay this is not the place.

The parking was non existent. We rang the owner who said park near the gates at the top of the road however this is impossible as it would block her neighbour in. Her neighbour spoke to us irately which wasn’t great on arrival This cottage should not be advertised as parking available. We had to park 0.8 miles away . The photo on Sykes website showing a gate leading to fields is false information as there is no gate leading to fields in fact there isn’t even a back yard space for dogs which meant each morning and night and during the night we had to take them out rather than just letting them out for a few minutes especially as it was raining and cold . Had we known there was no outside space we would not have booked this cottage . Also when booking through Sykes I wanted a place in Howarth this was actually in Keighley so had to drive each day to access Howarth. Overall a disappointing experience with Sykes Cottages
