About this property

Haworth 1.6 miles. A 17th century, stone-built semi-detached cottage, situated between Oxenhope and Haworth in lovely Bronte Country. An ideal cottage for a romantic break to the country, as the cottage is set amongst the wild and rugged Bronte countryside and a good walk from the ever popular Haworth. This cottage has been carefully preserved to retain its historic character, combining the old with the new. A spacious open plan living area greets new arrivals, with exposed stonework and old beams alongside a warming woodburning stove, contemporary furnishings and a modern bespoke kitchen which all combine to ensure a great stay. The main bedroom is spacious and enjoys good views of the surrounding countryside and there's also a modern, well-equipped bathroom. Outside, there is a small patio where you can sit out and enjoy the afternoon and evening sunshine, perhaps enjoying a refreshing drink after a hard day out on nearby Top Withens, made famous in the Wuthering Heights novel. There are numerous walks from the doorstep, including one that takes you to the nearby pub with its own well-known brewery. Walk across meadowland, woodland and down the road to Oxenhope station, where visitors can enjoy a ride on a nostalgic steam train. Haworth has much to offer, including the famous high street and the Parsonage Museum amongst many other attractions. The market town of Hebden Bridge is nearby, and within reach is Skipton with its cobbled streets and delightful castle. Further afield is the Victorian spa town of Harrogate, boasting fabulous shops, an excellent theatre and the Royal Pump Room Museum. A lovely holiday home, just right for that promised break in the Dales.

The small village of Haworth was home to the famous Bronte sisters, who were inspired by the surrounding moorland to pen their novels, which have become classics of English Literature. Haworth is a village that time almost forgot, with its myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, all set against a framing backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights as wild, rugged and barren.

It gave that 'cosy' feel throughout. It has a wood burner fire (which we didn't use) and also central heating. The kitchen has recently been refurbished and was a pleasure to potter around. The views from the front room and bedroom are idyllic. The view from the rear kitchen is eually as amusing watching the geese and ducks potter around the neighbouring premises. If you have a dog there's a really pleasant short walk to the right of the crossroads which takes you up to the reservoir (and further should you like a good walk). Haworth is only a mile and a quarter away so easily accessible for shopping and visiting. Overall we had the most pleasant stay at Moorside Cottage.

This cottage is perfect for a couple. It is warm, cosy, homely and atmospheric. The electric oven is one of the best I have encountered at a holiday let and the kitchen is well equipped with everything a couple would need. The bed is super comfortable and so is the sofa. The water was lovely and hot for both shower and bath. It also has the advantage of a wood burner, although you wouldn't need it as the house is warm enough. It is nice for cosiness though! There is an adjoining farm with free range hens and a few special breed sheep which you can watch from the kitchen window. We cant wait to book again.
