About this property

Smugglers Rock Cottage is a welcoming stone built cottage converted from the stables of an 1840’s Georgian house, sat near the village of Ravenscar in the North York Moors National Park. Designed in a comfortable and homely manner, the property makes an ideal base for families looking to explore this magnificent region of England. Accessed through a delightful shared courtyard, enter the property into a fresh and well-equipped kitchen, which leads towards a lovely, social dining area where you can prepare and enjoy those hearty home-cooked meals at ease. Adjacent to this lies a charming and welcoming sitting room, snug leather seating along with an inviting electric fire and TV, making this a perfect relaxing spot when you're not out creating lasting memories with your loved ones. The first floor of Smugglers Rock Cottage plays host to two attractively furnished bedrooms; a double and a twin room with two 2’6” beds promise a peaceful resting spot, while sharing access to a beautifully tiled family shower room. To the outside of the property, take a moment to relish in this marvellous rural location by taking a refreshing drink out to the courtyard garden. The North Yorkshire coast and countryside engulf this welcoming cottage, making it a superb base from which to walk, cycle or simply admire some of the most wonderful scenery on offer. For local amenities, Ravenscar has a tea room, a hotel for bar meals or just a relaxing drink, and a National Trust information center. Not to be missed is the walk down to the foot of the cliffs to view the resident seal colony; an incredible sight all year round. The village also sits in the middle of the Scarborough to Whitby railway line which is now a popular cycle and walking track. The Cleveland Way and the Moors to Coast cycle route both run through Ravenscar. The beautiful resort town of Scarborough is only 10 miles away featuring The Victorian Central Tramway and the Sea Life Sanctuary the delightful town offers full days out for all the family. The very famous seaside town Whitby just a little further in the opposite direction, includes the well known 199 steps up to the ruined Gothic Abbey which was the inspiration for 'Dracular', steeped in marvelous maritime history including the Captain Cook Memorial Museum this place is perfect to let your imagination run wild and see what stories you can cook up. Enjoy a stay at this coastal cottage to truly experience this magnificent part of England.

This North York Moors village is served by a shop/Post Office and two pubs serving food. The Burniston & Cloughton Village Hall provides a play park and tennis courts. I slept here better than in my bed at home, This was one of the best cottages I have stayed in I can find no fault with it at all. I must congratulate the owners they have worked very hard to make the whole place a very special place to stay.
