Dog Friendly Cottages in Benllech

Situated on the north coast of Anglesey, Benllech contains beautiful scenery yet remains a hidden gem. The village is the perfect place to relax and get away from it all for a while. Benllech Beach has had Blue Flag status since 2004 and, at low tide, there are miles of sand for your children and furry friend to run and play on. There are also many opportunities to try out new watersports, including diving. The beach does operate a seasonal dog ban, so check ahead before booking. There are still great walks to discover in the nearby area, or unwind at a cosy pub with your pup in tow.

At Dog Friendly Cottages, we know that your holiday wouldn't be complete without your pampered pooch beside you. That's why we offer a vast array of dog-friendly cottages in Benllech and across the UK. Whether you're looking for a solo adventure, a romantic getaway, or a family holiday, we have something to suit you.

Anglesey has long been thought as the most beautiful area of Wales, with miles of sandy beaches and beautiful landscapes that seem to unfurl before you. While certain areas can get very busy, Benllech is a quieter destination and perfect for a relaxing holiday all year round.

What our customers say about their holidays

  • Michael - Verified booking

This was the most disappointing rental we have had through Sykes, there are significant shortcomings and misrepresentations as regards the facilities and features of this property.

The pictures of the lounge show a range of comfortable seating, two couches and an armchair, this is still showing in the current advert for the property, this is not the case, there is only one corner unit that is not suitable for the number of occupants advertised. There were five in our party and in order to sit in the evening we had to bring in furniture from the garden which was far from comfortable. There is a dining table but only four chairs ! No placemats so you have to put a hot plate on to the wooden table or use a magazine to protect the surface. The master bedroom has no bedside table or bedside lighting meaning you cannot read in bed or have a drink by the bed, not acceptable ! Anything electrical such as phone charger has to go on the floor, My wife and I both wear glasses these too had to go on the floor or on the dresser at the foot of the bed which is not acceptable when you need to get up in the night. The en-suite loo is so far into the slope of the roof it is impossible for any man of average height to use this standing up. If more than one shower is in use then the pressure is too low and the water comes out in a trickle. The kitchen is woefully under resourced, the absolute bare minimum of utensils, no serving spoons, not even a fish slice to get your eggs out of the frying pan, a potato masher would have been handy. No coffee maker or even a cafetiere also no tea pot which means every hot drink has to be made in a mug and as there are only six mugs you have to wash up after every brew. washing up is a constant feature as there are so few knives forks and spoons ! No jugs, no roasting dish, if you like to cook which many people do when on holiday, bring your own equipment! The TV in the kitchen is broken, not that we would have watched it as half the seating has its back to it. No welcome pack of information and this is the first Sykes property we have booked that had no welcome basket, not even a bottle of milk! It would have been nice to know as we brought our dog, that the beach which is a ten minute walk down hill but a mountain climb back up is not dog friendly in peak times ! The beach is very tidal and most afternoons all of the local beaches are underwater, again would have been good to know. It should be pointed out that the walk back from the beach is up a steep hill and may not be suitable for all. We paid around £1500 for this week and expected so much more for the price. This was our main holiday and we thought we had splashed out on a bit of luxury we were so so wrong !

Only real problem was the washing machine wasn't working.

One of my dogs had vomited on a throw on the way there and I really needed to wash it.Because the washing machine was not working it ultimately meant we had to take it home a week later to clean it, by which time it was growing its own life form. We bought fuses and changed the one in the plug but there was no 'thank you for trying' from the owners. I was disappointed with this, it tainted my whole view of the property and the attitude of the owners. Other than this, everything was good. The garden is very very well enclosed with high fences all around. I always worry one of my dogs will get out (she's a ninja) but it is very secure. I'd have liked it if I could have closed the internal doors properly, to stop dogs going in to rooms we weren't using, but most of them would only push to and there was no catch to close them. I didn't want my dogs to go in and lie on the beds, purely because i didn't want to create more work/laundry for the owners. How fabulous to have a Nespresso machine! In fact the amount of cooking gadgets provided was wonderful.I Overall we really enjoyed our stay we would return, and would recommend to others.

First and foremost we had a lovely holiday staying in Big Azzles but the house is let down by some really simple things that could be sorted so easily.

I won’t repeat what other reviewers have mentioned but the theme is that it just needs some attention to detail to make it a nice place to stay. Mirrors in bedrooms, more kitchen utensils, a basket to carry washing to the line, larger kitchen bin, a welcome pack with house and recycling instructions, outdoor seating so the patio table could be used are just a few things that could be easily fixed. Some finishing off work around the showers and door frames is needed too. The plus side is the hot-tub is the best quality we’ve had the pleasure to use. The owner seems a genuinely nice person and is very helpful, so it’s a shame when the negative reviews could be remedied by some really simple actions. It has a good location within walking distance of shops, pubs and the beach although for the less mobile it is a walk uphill back to the property. We are easy going people and always enjoy our holidays whatever the circumstances but it would be hard to recommend the property until the problems are addressed.

Fabulous property in perfect location for all amenities and the beach.

Deceptively spacious and very well equipped. Garden very secure for our two dogs and although is in the centre of the town it is in a quiet little cul-de-sac of only 4 properties so no vehicle/foot traffic and is not overlooked. Bedrooms are large and with comfortable beds. Apart from cozy lounge there is a large dining room and a second snug, neither of which we used since we ate in the kitchen diner. The beach, is only a seven minute walk down the hill but you need to keep an eye on the tide times to get maximum benefit of the expansive sands. The beach is really sheltered from the wind and is a social dog walkers paradise with numerous other like minded and friendly owners. Although the beach access is slightly restricted for dogs in the busy months, it only applies to a small section of the beach. The Benllech pub is a welcome lunch stop on the way back from the beach offering a good and varied menu. Overall we had a superbly relaxing week and will definitely return to this property again.

We were very worried as previous reviews we not great however, Big Azzles is a lovely property, with everything we needed to feel comfortable and at home and make our stay special.

On arrival we had been left a lovely welcome gift and milk, tea and coffee which was really appreciated. there is plenty of outside furniture, mirrors and lamps so really don't know what the previous reviewers are about?? downstairs shower is really convenient for kids getting back from the beach and before & after going in hot tub.the hot tub was great with mood lighting which was lovely in the evenings and easy to control. Tv's in all bedrooms and plenty of wardrobe, draw space in each room with a sea view from one of the bedrooms - kitchen area was lovely and well equiped again with TV. Utility has a washer/dryer, iron & hoover . lounge had dining table, coffee table, sofa and reclining chair, tv - we took our Alexia for music which was easily connected to the wifi. We had a wonderful holiday and would like to thank the owner and cleaners for a comfortable stay - we will return!!!! Nock Family
