  This was the most disappointing rental we have had through Sykes, there are significant shortcomings and misrepresentations as regards the facilities and features of this property.

  The pictures of the lounge show a range of comfortable seating, two couches and an armchair, this is still showing in the current advert for the property, this is not the case, there is only one corner unit that is not suitable for the number of occupants advertised. There were five in our party and in order to sit in the evening we had to bring in furniture from the garden which was far from comfortable. There is a dining table but only four chairs ! No placemats so you have to put a hot plate on to the wooden table or use a magazine to protect the surface. The master bedroom has no bedside table or bedside lighting meaning you cannot read in bed or have a drink by the bed, not acceptable ! Anything electrical such as phone charger has to go on the floor, My wife and I both wear glasses these too had to go on the floor or on the dresser at the foot of the bed which is not acceptable when you need to get up in the night. The en-suite loo is so far into the slope of the roof it is impossible for any man of average height to use this standing up. If more than one shower is in use then the pressure is too low and the water comes out in a trickle. The kitchen is woefully under resourced, the absolute bare minimum of utensils, no serving spoons, not even a fish slice to get your eggs out of the frying pan, a potato masher would have been handy. No coffee maker or even a cafetiere also no tea pot which means every hot drink has to be made in a mug and as there are only six mugs you have to wash up after every brew. washing up is a constant feature as there are so few knives forks and spoons ! No jugs, no roasting dish, if you like to cook which many people do when on holiday, bring your own equipment! The TV in the kitchen is broken, not that we would have watched it as half the seating has its back to it. No welcome pack of information and this is the first Sykes property we have booked that had no welcome basket, not even a bottle of milk! It would have been nice to know as we brought our dog, that the beach which is a ten minute walk down hill but a mountain climb back up is not dog friendly in peak times ! The beach is very tidal and most afternoons all of the local beaches are underwater, again would have been good to know. It should be pointed out that the walk back from the beach is up a steep hill and may not be suitable for all. We paid around £1500 for this week and expected so much more for the price. This was our main holiday and we thought we had splashed out on a bit of luxury we were so so wrong !

  Just arrived back from a wonderful week at Gwersyllt.

  The bungalow is extremely spacious; accomodating 3 adults, 2 children and a 3 year old Catlan Sheepdog. The drive fit both cars on perfectly and would easily fit another one. The bungalow has a back patio area totally enclosed; ideal for a dog and younger children. There is also a lovely summerhouse and a large outside table/chairs, which we didn't use because of the time of year but would be ideal in the warmer months. Gwersyllt had everything we needed. Sue and Simon had thought of everything from a welcome hamper for us all, including our dog and beautiful fresh flowers which bloomed all week. Everyone had 2 large fluffy towels and the beds were extremely comfortable. We found everyone in Benllech to be friendly, especially the next door neighbour. The bungalow is in a very quiet, safe area. The shops (Tesco), restaurants, cafes, chip shop, ice-cream shop and the magnificent beach and coastal walks are all in walking distance. We walked the coastal paths and the beach to Red Wharf Bay. Gwersyllt is ideally placed for exploring other areas of Anglesey, including the nature reserve at Newborough, encompassing sea, sand and woodland, also Beaumaris, Almwch, Rhosneigr, Treaddur Bay. The Benllech restaurant did an amazing Sunday Lunch, Finneys chip shop was great for takeaway and easily ordered online in advance (very busy so saved waiting) and Sea Shanty in Rhosneigr also did amazing food with stunning views. Gwersyllt was our home from home and we will definitely be returning. A gorgeous bungalow in a magnificent area of natural beauty; missing the walks and beach already!   As soon as you open the door you can tell that a great deal of love and hard work has gone into creating an immaculately clean, ideally positioned, warm family holiday home away from home.

  Simon and Sue have tried to think of everything, from emergency toothbrushes, to buckets and spades for the young ones. The welcome hamper is one of the most thoughtful we‘ve ever enjoyed and the fresh flowers show that the hosts concentrate on their guests enjoyment over profit, which is heartwarming to experience. The bedrooms are neat, tidy and functional and are fresh, and incredibly clean. This is our second visit this year and privately we had mentioned to Simon and Sue that we found the beds to be somewhat unforgiving, so this year they had put a “topper” on the double bed to improve the comfort. That is the measure of these delightful owners! We have never been during the summer months but the private courtyard garden, and summer house would be a beautiful place to dine in the warmth of a Welsh spring and summer. We enjoyed a wonderful week, with wall to wall sunshine, and we would not hesitate to recommend Gwersyllt (The Cabin) to others looking for phenomenal value, caring owners, and a bolthole close to the beach and amenities in the centre of Benllech. Very highly recommended.

  This property is a gem.

  A pristine, immaculate bungalow in a quiet Benllech suburb. It’s perfectly located close to the Benllech amenities and a short 5 minute walk downhill to the wonderful beach, (although it’s longer walk back up the steep ascent!) Sue and Simon have made a concerted effort to think of every single item that you’d need during your stay, from a pizza cutting wheel, to a bucket and spade for our 4 year old grandaughter. They’re obviously very considerate hosts which was greatly appreciated. The home is a delight and we settled in very quickly. This is undoubtedly one of the finest rental accommodations in Benllech, due to its high standards and ideal position however we had some reservations about the beds. We found the mattresses to be hard and unforgiving, (and I tried sleeping in them all!). That said, would it prevent our return? Absolutely not, but we’d probably take a topper to ease our geriatric bones! Book it, you won’t be disappointed and you’ll be ideally situated to revel in the delights of this warm and welcoming part of the beautiful island of Anglesey.

  First and foremost we had a lovely holiday staying in Big Azzles but the house is let down by some really simple things that could be sorted so easily.

  I won’t repeat what other reviewers have mentioned but the theme is that it just needs some attention to detail to make it a nice place to stay. Mirrors in bedrooms, more kitchen utensils, a basket to carry washing to the line, larger kitchen bin, a welcome pack with house and recycling instructions, outdoor seating so the patio table could be used are just a few things that could be easily fixed. Some finishing off work around the showers and door frames is needed too. The plus side is the hot-tub is the best quality we’ve had the pleasure to use. The owner seems a genuinely nice person and is very helpful, so it’s a shame when the negative reviews could be remedied by some really simple actions. It has a good location within walking distance of shops, pubs and the beach although for the less mobile it is a walk uphill back to the property. We are easy going people and always enjoy our holidays whatever the circumstances but it would be hard to recommend the property until the problems are addressed.
