Surrounded by majestic mountain scenery and overlooking the River Dee in the bustling town of Llangollen is Church Street Cottage.
Found on one of the oldest streets of Llangollen and built in the late 17th century, this wonderfully-appointed detached property retains many of its original features yet has been tastefully modernised to reflect 21st century comforts. It is ideal for families seeking a relaxing getaway to a typical Welsh town boasting bags of character and charm. Covering all the necessities is the kitchen area, where you will find quality appliances inviting you in to rustle up a tasty treat, as well as a dishwasher ensuring that you do not have lift a finger for the duration of the holiday. Joining the kitchen is the dining area where you and your loved ones can settle down for an evening meal before sinking into the sofa and choosing a DVD to enjoy from the selection awaiting your arrival. Concluding the ground floor is the utility room boasting a washing machine and a tumble dryer. Head up the staircase to find two bedrooms offering wonderful spaces for a spot of rest and rejuvenation. Find a brightly-decorated double bedroom overlooking the River Dee and wonderful views across to Castell Dinas Brân with its own TV with DVD player and a twin bedroom, an ideal set up for your next family break. Continuing to impress is the rear patio area, where your morning coffee or evening drinks can be enjoyed whilst admiring the river tumbling past you, or, during a balmy evening, an alternative dining experience can be enjoyed within the front patio area which also has a table and chairs. Immerse yourself in your surroundings by taking a stroll into the centre of Llangollen, where you will be spoilt for choice by the cafés, pubs, restaurants and independent shops that await you. Head to the Corn Mill pub for a delicious meal whilst sat on their decked area which overlooks the fast flowing river, or pick up some delicious fish and chips and walk along the canal where you can catch a glimpse of the horse-drawn boat.
For the more energetic, try your hand at one of the watersports available on the river or enjoy a scenic walk up to Castell Dinas Brân which overlooks the town. Within the surrounding area you can choose to walk the dramatic Offa's Dyke path or brush up on the local history by discovering the nearby National Trust properties of Erddig and Chirk Castle. We loved its location with such a tranquil view over the river towards Castle Dinas Bran - wow! The cottage itself has been thoughtfully and lovingly restored and is deceptively spacious. It was neat as a pin, with everything we could possibly need for a luxurious stay, and the children loved the Xbox and the games, which turned a wet day into a glorious relaxing day in our jimjams. Thank you so much for the supplies too - the Welshcakes were fab after a long drive. Will recommend to all our friends; this would be a lovely place to return to in the autumn for the exceptional walks nearby.
